  1. Could'nt do much with Lebanon's passing game, Tazewell seems to want to run up the middle regardless of the score. 2 touchdowns called back on penalties that should'nt have happened so far away from the play but were so obvious the refs had to call them. Tazewell is a good team, they're gonna have to find a passing game somehow or everybody will just put 9 in the box and dare them to throw it. The game was closer than the score.
  2. Ditto..........I miss being in AA football but don't miss the thrashings we took from most SWD teams. Look at Tazewell's schedule and look at Lebanon's....no comparison. I do miss having a good game to watch every week, now Lebanon has to schedule 2 SWD teams just to give the fans more competative games for their buck. Win or lose, I'd rather pay to watch a good game we lose than 3 bad games that are blowouts. Although we have a more competative district this year with Patrick Henry shining, some folks have it really rough, poor ole Honaker has to go all over the country to watch Honaker beat up on about 5 division 1 teams and not get enough power points to make the playoffs, bad scheduling there. I don't like to lose, but it's easier when you get beat by a good football team.
  3. I give Tazewell plenty of credit, no doubt they are headed in the right direction. I don't know who will win but I believe it'll be a good game. I'm glad to see Tazewell get back competative in football, I thought they had a good team last year but got down early in the year and kinda stayed down, believe me.......Lebanon has a LOT of respect for Tazewell. I hope it'll be an injury free game.
  4. I've seen both teams play also, Lebanon is probably a little better especially in the passing game. Lebanon will have to make some defensive changes from the 4-4 or it'll be a long night for the Pioneers. Last year they could play a 4-4 defense with the linebackers they had........not this year. Anyhow, I'm sure not going to predict this one, I believe it'll be close, Lebanon should win but anything can happen. If Lebanons QB comes out on the mark it could be a long night for the Dawgs. Lotta unknowns in this game.
  5. I went to the Lebanon JV game last night and was impressed with the intensity level, I wish that would bleed over to the varsity team. The defensive line was really strong and the linebackers were agressive and the defensive backs stayed tight on the recievers. Both QB's looked good, I believe Miller might be a little quicker but can't take the pounding Lockridge can, that'll be a tough call for the varsity coach to make next year, Conley Yates made the catches look easy which one was a pretty tough catch, Skyler Musick and Freddie Hafley both looked good out of the backfield. Arms is quicker and stronger than I thought, things looked pretty good.
  6. That's a nightmare........My prayers go to the families, I can't imagine the pain.
  7. The Clinch Mountain District. Ah we're just dream'in.
  8. I have PM'd Bluefield Rules and apologized for my last post to him. I'm ashamed of what I said and there was no excuse for it. The whole thing was quite silly on my part, and I let my emotions get out of hand. This forum is a great asset to the entire community and deserves more respect than what I have shown. I apologize to everyone that uses this message board and especially G-Man and Bluefield Rules.
  9. Sure Mack...........Bluefield plays a killer schedule....lol. They lose all the games they should and win all the games they should. Go back to whinning, it's apparent you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Go back to worring about the FAN poll, you're knowledge does'nt reach beyond Bluefield. Try to learn something before you make a <deleted by The G-Man> of yourself on a message board.
  10. Sure you're free to express, I believe you have...........several times. Just print out the FAN poll, scratch out Lebanon and Honaker, insert who ever you want!! it'll mean just as much as it does right now and you'll be happy. Besides, you're right, the likes of Lebanon and Honaker (since 2001) Lebanon record 22-10, Honaker record 22-9 has no buisness in the same poll with the powerhouses such as Bluefield 22-14.
  11. It's a FAN poll, it means nothing........... Lebanon nor Honaker may not deserve to be on it, but they are. I have'nt heard you say a negative word about George Wythe, Lebanon beat them 27-6 last year and Honaker beat Lebanon 17-14, maybe you should pay more attention before you get all knotted up over a fan poll that does'nt mean anything, it'll all work out as the year goes along.
  12. Well, I really did'nt mean to down JSB, I just believe their priorities are all screwed up. I love baseball as well as anybody but I believe their kids get cheated out of the other sports. I know they have a lot of athletic talent and could turn out some really good football and basketball programs if they did'nt try to do baseball year round. Look at Honaker, Richlands, Abingdon, Lebanon, Haysi etc. they're all usually competative in every sport because they take it season to season and use all their athletic talent in every sport. Like I said, I'm not trying to down them....just understand them.
  13. You're pretty darn smart and everything you said is true. Honaker has worked hard and long to get to the point they are now with their program, but until they have the chance to showcase what they've got it'll be hard to earn a lot of respect beating up on Division I teams. Honaker has earned my respect, of course I only live 10 miles from there and know how far their program has came in the past 10 years and should be in a stronger district. Honaker, Lebanon, John Battle, Virginia High, Patrick Henry and Chilhowie would make a dandy district and should go into Region D instead of Region C to even out the Regions. The remaining 3 teams in the BDD plus Clintwood and Pound would keep the BDD intact and reduce the size of the LPD. Maybe the new district could use the old Clinch Valley district title, I'd say you're too young to remember that, but it was some darn good football. Wadda ya think?........ like it'd ever happen......lol.
  14. JSB tries to concentrate on baseball year round and it has paid off in baseball but the other sports have suffered because of it. With their enrollment, they should be more competative in football and I have to agree their schedule is pretty soft for a school that size. Honaker really needs to drop JSB from their schedule, they're not going to win enough games to help them in points. I know last year was a heart breaker for Honaker, but their going to have to beef up their schedule some, the kids that have worked very hard at Honaker plus the fans deserve a more exciting schedule than just the Lebanon game. Honakers' AD and head coach need to rethink their strategy and give their fans more bang for the buck, they might lose a few more games a year but it'd sure be better for the kids and fans to have exciting games to look forward to.
  15. I have to disagree with you a bit Zach, Conley Yates and Zack Jessee will be good but the center Lebanon had last year played there most of the year due to an injury to the starting center, Ryan Cox is a very good center also, at middle linebacker they'll have Ryan Carlock and Ryan Cox as backups both are good. Ben Farmer, possibly Conley Yates or Dotson at backup fullbacks. They ran a play last year with Pepper Yates in the backfield that would work really well if they practice it early in the season, they waited til the end of the season to use it but it still worked well, he'd be a horse to bring down in short yardage or can make a huge hole for Thayer White. I believe Lebanon will have more depth and a better team than you think, graduation did'nt hurt them nearly as much as you think..........next year will be a different story. The Smith boys will play in the mix plus the best recieving corp I can ever remember at Lebanon and a Quarterback that can get it to them or run like a tailback if need be. This will be an interesting year for the Pioneers, I hope they play up to the expectations.
  16. Lebanon lost 2 lineman, tailback and fullback but the replacements should be as good or better than what they lost. The big question mark will be the linebackers, they lost all of last years starters. This may be the first year in quite a while that Lebanon should be stronger on offense than defense. The line should be very good on both sides of the ball, like I said the linebackers will be the hardest to replace from last year. I know they have some really good linebackers from JV that'll have to step up and prove themselves.
  17. I don't remember what happened, I apologize. I do remember Lebanon did'nt have a desire to play, I guess that explains it. Thanks for setting me straight, I'm ashamed for not remembering the situation
  18. Last years game between Lebanon and Richlands was a joke, Timmy Brown just ran right over Lebanon last year. Lebanon played fairly good football the week before at George Wythe but did'nt even show up for the Richlands game. Lebanon might be compeative this year with Richlands, but after this year it will be a long string of slaughters for Richlands over Lebanon. I don't believe the rivalry will be as strong or intense as it was in the early 90s'
