Just wondering if anyone had heard anything about the Lebanon at Lee Scrimmage last night (8/19/04)?

Scrimmage opens up at 5:30pm with Host J.I.Burton Vs. Grundy, then Grundy Vs. J.J.Kelly at 6:40, followed by J.J.Kelly Vs. Holston at 7:50 and then finishing up at 9:00 with the host J.I.Burton going up against Holston. $5.00 is the charge. I don't think this will be much of a test for the Golden Wave all these teams are pretty weak.

In VA they have both All Region and All State. If my memory is correct in order to make the all state team you must make your all region team. So it is a pretty fair way to pick an all state team, I think in VA where a player gets shafted is in the regional picks, because you have so many groups, a group for the larger schools and a group for the smaller schools, and if your team or district does not do to well a player or players get left off that Regional Team, thus leaving them off the All State Team. I guess you are always going to leave someone off the team that should be on it no matter how my state or any other state does it.

Travel wise it might be a good fit but having Holston,PH, and Castlewood in your district makes for a pretty weak district and teams don't get prepared for the post seasons. Take the larger schools in the Hogo and the larger schools in the LPD and move Honaker out of the BDD (GW,Lebanon,Battle,VAHigh,GateCity,PV,JJKelly,Clintwood,and Honaker, put them in the Region D) that makes for one of the top districts & regions in the state for all sports. Take those smaller schools and you can make 2 districts putting one in Region C the other in D.

VA High is going to appeal it's placement in the Lonesome Pine District and the Region D for the 2005-2006 seasons. They will request a move to the Hogoheegee District and Region C. When they asked to drop they were hoping to create a New District made up of them, Honaker, Lebanon, Gate City, Powell Valley and a few more and be in the Region D. The VHSL however placed them in the already loaded Lonesome Pine. VA High has stated that if they do not get into the Hogo that they will remain in the Highlands. What do some of you all think about this?

Just wondering how all the area teams have faired after the first week of practice? I know the first week is mostly to get in a little shape and weed through the guys that really want to be there, but any teams feel like they are ahead of schedule?

I do agree that Lebanon does not compare to lets say a Bluefield, Graham, or a Gate City year in year and me being from Southwest Virginia I don't know much about the West VA side of the Ball. I do however beleive that Lebanon is and has been a very consistent football program through out the past, maybe not the power house they were in the 90's but consistent. I think this years team is worth keeping an eye on. I do think that of the A schools in the area they are a top 5 team so I don't think having them at #16 hurts you sweet 16 Fan Poll. I did not even vote in the poll because I just got in but I would have ranked them near the bottom if I did, I'm not saying they are in with the top teams but they are good enough to round out the rankings. I hear the Vikings from Powell Valley are back, they may challenge the Big Blue Devils this year. If Richlands finds a QB they may win the SWD? What a opening game G.City and Richlands, should be a snot knocker!

Some of you guys are being to hard on the Pioneers from Lebanon. If they get any line play at all they will be really tough to handle. They have maybe the best WR crew in the area with a all district QB throwing to them. The rest of the skills players includeing the QB are loaded with speed. Remember this name "Pepper Yates" he could be one of the best Def.Linemen in the area great speed and good size. The only thing about the Pioneers is that they play in one of the weakest districts in the area (HOGO) and have a weak schedule which will not help come Playoff time. Their two toughest contest are with GW and Richlands.
