  1. How does everyone think the Hurley sports banquet went? Were the awards given to the right people? Just my personal opinion as far as the football team is concerned there were too many awards given out. There were only 15 or so players on the team and it seemed like we had more awards than we did players. In my opinion there should only be 6 awards and they are: Best Lineman, Best Skill/Back, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach's Award and MVP. Best lineman is offense and defense, Best back is offense and defense, and the other ones are pretty self expainatory. Just my thoughts, what are some thoughts of the people who were there?
  2. you may play those positions as well but you'll only be remembered as being a kicker.... hahahahahaha
  3. I agree with you on that part... there's definetly more to it than just pure speed and bench and squat numbers, but all i was saying is they are still important because that's is one of the first things recruiters ask. like i said before 500 lbs on a bench press is totally different than 500 lbs on the field. they do emphasize more on numbers than talent but what can you do. the whole point of starting this post was for my own curiousity on the speed and strength of some local 'big men'.
  4. yeah but he's a kicker so what does it matter.... hahaha j/k
  5. Well if I remember correctly you're the very one who doesn't think those times are important. Well obviously they are otherwise every coach in america wouldn't be interested in it. So you can make all the smart remarks you want but facts are facts. Do me a favor and keep the remarks to yourself. If you dont have any information on the things I was curious about dont waste the message board space with a reply.
  6. Just out of curiousity out of all you big men in SWVA, who has recorded a 40 yard time and what was it? What about bench, squat, and power clean? Some of you all think the 40 yard time is a waste of time because track speed is different that field speed but if you would look at all questionaires front recruiting coaches that is always a question... Same thing goes for Bench and Squat, just because someone bench pressed 400 pounds doesn't mean he's a good FOOTBALL player...
  7. The Corps of Engineers constructed the Redevelopment Site, which only included a small portion of utilities. The town was responsible for their own utilities and development. From what I understand, Tabb construction is currently working on finishing up the riprap and sewer stubouts and once that feature of work is complete they are also responsible for installing the section of utilities that will be directly under the 460 detour. As far as the remaining utilities; thst is all the Towns responsibility. Trust me the project has costs too much money to be delayed any further.
  8. Why didn't G. Marcum run track this season? He could have really helped the team. By the way BB_TWEEDER, how did the regionals go?
  9. Didn't Matt Lee sign to go to UVA-Wise?
  10. well now you've gotten personal and you have ruined the intent of this post so please refresh your little mind and onlny post about football.
  11. Good things come to those who wait. Continue to work hard, respect your coaches, respect your teammates, and do well in school, because no matter how well you do on the field you have to have the grades to go on to the next level. Good luck to you and hopefully good things will come!!!!!
  12. BALLER, do us ALL a favor and quit posting. The more you post the more stupid you make yourself look. I would seriously doubt you have the job you say you have considering your English skills. Just admit you're one of the quitters and quit downgrading Honaker and the Lawschool. Two (2) words for you: GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I'll say it again BB_TWEEDER, you stuck it out, the idiots that are posting that crap did not. That's okay though because once Football is over, and you have a good steady job, you can always go to Wendy's and get them to fix you a cheeseburger, that is if they don't quit.
  14. HA............. HA............. do me a favor... pull up a post, any posts, where I stated I was a good coach. I'll save you the trouble of looking. It was never said and it never will be. If my memory serves me correctly I know who it is that has posted that and I'll be honest with you. The more you speak, the more ignorant you become. Keep the smart remarks to yourself and if you insist on posting ignorance do it somewhere else and leave me my name and the hurley team out if it.
  15. BB_TWEEDER, have you had a chance to figure out who THAPLAMAKER is? I'm just curious which one of the quitters it is... Obviously the kid is from Hurley, he gave away some clues on that aspect. Just do me a favor BB_TWEEDER, when you find out who that is, tell that person to pay more attention is English class because I struggled reading his posts.
  16. so BB_TWEEDER and JOHNSON 52, do you want to marry me now or marry me later.... hahaha. j/k i appreciate what you've said, but remember one thing, a coach is only as good as the people who play for him...
  17. I've got an honest question... why does everyone dog hurley?
  18. well we all see where this is going... keep one thing in mind, you all play on the same team, and i stress the word team.
  19. I think BB TWEEDER is Joey May... j/k
  20. not to piss anyone off or anything, but james doesn't post about himself anymore than the other players. here's something to keep in mind, the best player returning to hurley next year, shane, doesn't post anything and that's why he's a step above other players.
  21. Just my personal opinion, I have already stated who I felt was the #1 returning player in the BDD, so now I would like to post who I think the Hurley "captains" should be next year. Justin Hall (only returning all district lineman, needs to improve in the weightroom if he wants to improve from last year) Shane Justus (when he is on his game he brings the wow back into football) James Johnson (a lot of people give him a hard time but all you hear is what a good kid he is and he has the potential, size, and ability to play at the next level if he gets his head on straight) Alex Prater (the kid has had a complete makeover, could be one of the top returning defensive players in the BDD if he works at it). That's just my personal opinion what I have seen, or heard about in the weight room during this off season and what was produced on the field last year. Dont get me wrong there are some sleepers out there in Isaac Stacy, Josh Childress, and Nathan Justice. I have also heard ALOT of good things about Joey May and Josh Justice. Those two could be the surprises of the season if they continue to work as hard this summer and during fall camp as they have been doing this winter. To be a CAPTAIN on your highschool varsity football team should be something special. That is something that is earned, not given to because you are a senior. Earn it, and earn your respect next season. I'm tired of the talk, let's see something on the field. Go REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Shane Justus(when he is on) is the number one offensive player returning.
  23. Rebs

    BDD

    I agree with that statement...
  24. Rebs

    BDD

One more thing, I didn't say a good second string, I said a second string....
  25. Rebs

    BDD

I'm not going to get in to this argument with you and the depth situation. There are exceptions, and what we call upsets, but as a general rule more depth = more wins. If you dont agree then you obviously dont know football...
