1. Am I missing something here? How does a reporter write a feature article on a website and not even mention the NAME OF THE WEBSITE?!! That's like doing a wedding write-up without mentioning the name of the bride. The Bristol Herald "starvin horses" Courier strikes again. Anyway, Congratulations on the recognition.
2. We'll need to see some references. Mr. Norris is very particular about who he "hangs out with".
3. Would the last person leaving Damascus this evening for Emory please shut the meth labs down? Thanks, Damascus P.D.
4. PH is playing Holston (5-0) at home. If Groves is really back, should make for an interesting game. Lot's of VHSL points at stake for the Rebels if they win.
5. How about Grove's younger brother? If he also comes back from Tejas ready and eligible to play he would be PH's best receiver.
6. That great icon of journalistic integrity - the "Bristol Herald Courier" reported in today's Region section (not Sports) that Tenis Simon of GW had been arrested on charges involving getting a little "too close" to a 14 yr. old female. Is this "old news"? (It's the first I've heard about it) I assume he is no longer on the roster.? If he's gone, what does this mean for George Wythe football in '07?
7. Supposed to start around 5 pm. Don't know who plays 1st.
8. Great event to kick off H.S. football is this Friday @ PH - Glade Spring (REBELS). Jamboree with Graham, Gate City, PH Roanoke and host PH Glade Spring. If you haven't been to PH, you are in for a treat - one of the best H.S. football stadiums in SW VA and just 2 minutes from E&H. If you can get away - try to make the trip. We are all praying for Coach Carlock and family. PH Rebels played Graham back in the days when PH was part of the old 10 team SW District.
9. Word our of WASP country is that Reavis is the 1st Asst. Coach to be hired by the new Head football coach @ Emory & Henry.
10. the Hogoheegee may be the toughest district this year. Lebanon goes to playoffs as champ and Rural Retreat qualifies in smaller division. George Wythe stays home at 9-1, Chilhowie and Patrick Henry both finish 7-3 and both had wins during the season over large school AA teams. All three end up with more ratings points than Grayson County, which goes to post season with a 5-5 record as champ of a weak district and no wins outside of that district.

AP poll

Norton (J.I. Burton) #10 in the state????? Hmmm.
12. GW must go to Lebanon on 10/29. They could come back to earth then. Lebanon has a very solid team, good size and a balanced offense. Hard hitting stingy defense. Until then, look for the Maroons to run the score up on everybody else as they normally do. Perhaps Lebanon can exact a little revenge for the rest of the district on the last weekend of October.
13. Single A (Hogoheegee) PH gets big opening win over county arch rival and 2nd largest school in SW VA. Tailback Kelly Nichols rushes for over 300 yards. AHS appeared sluggish and out of shape. Game was not as close as 21-14 final. Both WJHL(CBS) - Johnson City, and WKPT (ABC) - Kingport reported the score as a 21-14 win for Abingdon on highlight shows Friday night. PH Fans in Glade Spring, Emory and Meadowview, as usual; get no respect.
