  1. as nice as that would be i am not ready to reserve my motel room in arizona just yet. louisville still looks very good and rutgers is going to be tough as well. WVU has the potential to go udefeated but they won't be able to just sleep walk into the national championship. and even if they do go undefeated there is no garuntee they will make it then. look at the 1993 WVU team. VT on the other hand doesn't impress me. their defense and special teams are helping them win games and they haven't even played anyone yet. they had better get some offense going on in blacksburg.
  2. thanks guys, yeah for sure MV has a good team and obviously wayne and weir do as well. i was just wondering if it was like last year when they were clearly the class of the AA field. to me it looks like JM, MV, Bluefield, Wayne, and Weir are all pretty evenly matched but we'll see what the next few weeks bring.
  3. Has anyone heard how wayne and weir are this year? i've pretty much been limited to observing the local AA schools. i was just wondering if anyone knew what either of these schools have this year.
  4. i don't think most were booing about the fumble call. i think most were booing that we even got in that position because the ref didn't give jason the td on the previous play. oh well 34-3 is as good as 41-3 lol
  5. We kinda hurt ourselves tonight with a few turnovers but the D stepped up and oak hill is a little better than i thought. oh and don't forget about the 7 points the refs took off the board.
  6. yeah, it's kinda early to tell. i was shocked by bluefields loss but bluefield tends to play their best ball when it counts. i haven't heard much about wier and wayne but i would think this would be somewhat of a rebuilding year for weir. as for the oak hill game, mavs by 21 or more, depends how long coach leaves the starters in.
  7. This year James Monroe not only decided to get rid of the old uniforms but they also got rid of some weaker schools on their schedule. The Mavs have replaced Summers and Point Pleasent with Mt. View and Lincoln County. The Mavs won't get into the heart of their schedule until mid season but they look good so far with a 56-0 win over Narrows and a 42-7 victory over Shady. This week the Mavs head up to John P. Duda stadium to take on the Oak Hill Red Devils. Should be fun, if you are a Maverick that is.
  8. don't get me wrong, i am in know way saying that you can chalk up a W in the win column for WVU. however as has already been metioned i think it strikes a blow to team confidence and i don't believe louisville has any back up rb's that can match bush's explosiveness. it will still be a tough game for WVU but i think things got a little simpler for WVU's definse in that game.
  9. I know that the season is only a week old but most people viewed louisville as WVU's only real threat this season. Well that game just took a big twist as louisville's star running back is out for the season with a broken leg. I hate it for Micheal Bush because this is his senior year but this is a big plus for WVU.
  10. no offense but beating narrows buy 8 points doesn't mean you are for real. congrats on the win though
  11. haha, more stampedeing by robertson and jackson. nice site photoguy, look forward to seeing you in oak hill next week
  12. I was just wondering if anyone can confirm or refute this. My dad was told at work that Weir and Bluefield may be moving up to AAA in the next year or two. The last time I checked Bluefield was right in the middle as far as enrollment and wasn't close to moving up. Just wondered if anyone close to the teams knew anything
  13. Hey man I am sorry to hear about you grandfather. I will remember you in my prayers. I hope that the Lord will give you peace and encouragement. I Thessalonians 4:13-14 But we do not want you to be uniformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as those who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
  14. I was wondering if VA high school football is the same as WV in the sense that WV has a single A, double A, and triple A champion of the entire state. I was under the impression that a team like Giles for instance does not play for a state championship but rather is single A champion of their region. Would appreciate some clarification.
  15. Tom as a veteran i have a lot of respect for you and while i don't want to get into a reigous discussion i will say this. Don't by into the media propoganda that islam is a peaceful religion, it is not. The truth is that islam teaches there followers to spread their religion by whatever means neccesary, even terrorism. The extremests aren't Muslims who have are perverting their religion but rather Muslims who follow what Islam teaches to the letter. As for Islam being on par with Christianity, yes this is America and under the constitution Muslims have just as much right to worship as Christians but asside from that Islam and Christianity have no similarities.
  16. I gotta say that i support the presidents choice to go into iraq and have the utmost respect and total support for our military. Those guys and gals are top notch in my book and whether you support the war or not you should be considered a trator if you throw off on our military!!!! I think there is one thing that nobody is really talking about and that is the prevailing cause behind all the fighting going on in the middle east from iraq to israel. We are fighting a religous war. These terrosits as we call them are Muslims who are dying for their faith. That is why things in iraq are the way they are. You would think that the power of the US military would cause these terrorists to give up but these people believe that the only sure way of going to heaven is by being a martyr in a holy war. That is why they won't stop fighting. As Americans we had best be concerned about our own country here at home. If we continue to give Islam the right to spread in our country while supressing Christianity, which is what our country was founded on, then we will be seeing riots in New York like France did and suicide bombings will be and every day thing here at home. This may sound far fetched or like i am a religous fanatic but the truth is I am a red blooded American by birth and a Christian by the grace of God and the shed blood of Jesus Christ and i can promise you that these so called terrorists will not stop until they have spread Islam throughout the world and if it means they have to kill our soldiers one rode side bomb at a time they will do it. Whether you are for or against the war is of little importance. As Americans we need to look to God and ask Him to be with us in this war.
  17. I disagree that an 8-4 FSU team proves that the ACC is a power house football conference. The ACC is definetly a great football conference but FSU making a BSC bowl at 8-4 doesn't prove that. All that proves is once again how screwed up the BSC is. I don't like VT at all but it is sad when one game decides whether or not you go to a BCS bowl after the kind of season they had. Obviously a playoff system is the solution most people want to see but it is pitiful that a team not even ranked in the top 25 before the ACC championship game ends up going to a BCS bowl. Texas and USC are the two best teams so for once there will be no squable over the champion but the BCS has once again showed that its system has major flaws.
  18. Yahoo has just released the trailor for Pirates of the Carribean 2 which open July 7, 2005. Maybe nobody else cares but I loved the first one and was skeptical about a sequel but the preview on yahoo movies looks really good.
  19. Just wanted to congradulate my Mavs, you guys had a great season and played a hard faught game Saturday. No matter what anyone says you guys represented Maverick Football well and proved that JM has a top notch WV AA football program. Good luck to Bluefield at state.
  20. I don't care about the past, I'm concerned about Saturdays game. Bluefield certainly has a lot going for them with the edition of three players they didn't have in the first matchup. I just hope our guys are all healthy Sat. These guys have played with a lot of heart all season, they've worked hard and won some tough games. They are battle tested and deserve to be in Wheeling. Best of fortune to the MAVS!!!!!!1
  21. Tolsia played a heck of a game. They are a very good football team, my hat's off to them. Looking to next week it is a toss up no matter which side you are on. Bluefield has gotten better as the year has gone on, they are always good in the playoff, and past history shows that they do well in rematch games. On the other side JM has managed to find a way to win all year. WE came from 13 down today and our seniors were freshmen when we lost the other rematch game to Bluefield so they know what's at stake. Both teams are good, i think it will be a close game. I hope JM pulls it out because these guys have played with a lot of character and they deserve to be in Wheeling. GO MAVS!!!!!
  22. Thanks Willie, I hope the Maverick Express is ready to roll, those guys are capable of accomplishing a lot as long as they stay focused.
  23. I was just wondering if any Mav's fans knew the status of JM health. Do we have any key guys out with injuries or are we pretty healthy?
