  2. Well, 3 of them were from Iowa, so you can't blame'em a bit. Now, UVA is looking for a coach as well. http://www.dailyprogress.com/servlet/Sat...90&path=!sports
  3. it's official - Brands is heading home. Wonder how many redshirts he's taking along?
  4. yep. And in Region IV, we lose Va. High, Lee & Dan River to Group A, and gain the River Ridge District (minus William Fleming, which will go to AAA).
  5. Man, I thought after going 2-8, we'd have a full slate for this Fall. But nnnnoooooooo. Who can we find THIS time around? Will TV return?
  6. trying to buy had nothing to do with the window. Anyway, now that his one-month suspension is over, I wonder if he'll get much time next Sat.?
  7. "retired" from VA - he'll be on the sidelines down in Tar Heel Country this Fall.
  8. Ball tipped out of bounds. 4.3 left In bounds tipped - knocked out by CC. :01 left - in-bounds tipped again. Blind heave misses. 51-49, Clarke Co. wins.
  9. Goodman loses it. Chandler Rhodes drives & scores w/:12.6 left as K.T. Vandyke fouls out. TV takes their last TO. Rhodes makes freebie to put Clarke up 51-49. CC uses their last TO. This is it!
  10. CC's down to 1 TO left. Still 1 pt lead for TV. :22 left.
  11. We miss FT, they score. Up by 1 w/:33 left
  12. TV loses it - CC walks. CC has 3 TO's left, so this might take a while. :48 left, TV by 3.
  13. yep. Sloppy 4th. 1:23 left, TV up by 3
  14. Yep, title's up for grabs. Rhodes opened the 3rd with a trey to start a 9-1 run. Looking very bleak, down 38-27. Panthers then answered with an 11 pt. run to tie it up late in the 3rd. Clarke with a bucket inside. Logan answers & hits the freebie. Clarke misses a 3 at the buzzer - Twin Valley leads 41-40 after 3.
  15. very exciting 1st half. Rhodes comes up witha trey just b4 the buzzer to give Clarke a 29-26 lead at the half.
  16. After 1 quarter, TV leads 11-10 : Baldwin has 6 points; K.T. has 2 fouls
  17. about the new school building ... Found out yesterday that core drilling is currently being done at the site. Today's newspaper basically says it's a big strip mine site, with room for the school and a housing development (110 acres), plus road-side commercial/industrial properties. A 4-lane will be built from the site to the CFX at Bull Gap (Bull Mtn.), and apparently back the other way to Lover's Gap, too. No timetable was given. If they're waiting until CFX is built, it'll be 10 years, since new road projects weren't in the last state budget. Maybe that will change in the next week or so. Also found out that downtown demolition could start before the end of the month.
  18. Lloyd said air time tonight is 7:00 (pre-game).
  19. yeah, we'll see a lot of that, since most schools sign 2 year (home-and-home) contracts
  20. health problems???? He had a f'n bypass. Curia has to know every greasy diner in the 2 Virginias. He's been at Grundy, Turner Ashby, Orange, Warren Co., Dinwiddie, and Hinton/Summers Co... that I KNOW of, since 1980... who knows whre else. I really don't know if he was ever in 1 place LONG enough to have a "system".
  21. bulldog4ever - Teams can't just move anytime they want to - it has to be done at the start of a 2-year cycle (unless something weird happens - like a county closes 2 schools in the same District over the Summer). The next cycle starts in Aug., 2007, which is the earliest C'burg can move to R4 AND the earliest Grundy can drop to A. The proposal is a "work in progress", and changes can be made up to the Spring of 2007, although waiting that late will cause major scheduling headaches. Then when you take in the fact that divisions aren't announced until July or so, some coaches (like Winter sports) don't know where they officially are until classes start back and they ask somebody. I'm hoping that if Grundy is joined by at least 1 Taze. Co. school, they'll just say "screw it" for 2007 and wait 'til '09 (a fellow can dream, can't he?). Back to where the wrestlers placed - you'll also noticed that we beat Brentsville, which also beat TA. The order was just reversed this weekend. Anyone who's been to state knows anything can happen (like 2 #1 seeds at a certain weight losing their opening match [AA-HWT] or 2 #1 seeds falling on opening day, giving a guy an "easy" path to the finals, where he beats a kid who Majored him at Regionals the past 2 years [A-103]).
  22. And everyone's still waiting for the Dickenson Co. consolidation of Haysi/whoever with the new flood-plan school. And kinda waiting to see what happens in Wise Co. It will be hilarious if Grundy and another SWD school or 2 decide to stay "A" when the numbers need to be petitioned this Fall. The new realignment plan may need to be "tweaked" again.
  23. Current : Appy, Clintwood, Coeburn, JI Burton, JJ Kelly, Pound, Powell Valley & Gate City. Latest 2007 proposal drops Pound & Coeburn.
  24. Tazewell girls will play #9 Hidden Valley on Sat. @ 2:00 @ Northside H.S. in Roanoke. Directions - Take I-81 up to I-581 (Roanoke - Exit 143). Go about a mile to the first exit - Peters Creek Road. Hang a right at the top of the ramp, then go about a half-mile to the 1st light. Turn right and the school is about 1/4 mile up on the left. Can't thing of any eats "beside the road" once you pass C'burg, but there is a Hardees & a Dominos about a half-mile on down Peters Creek. A boys : Saturday night Radford - Twin Valley, 6:00 @ Clinchco Elem. Twin Springs - Glenvar 7:00 @ Lord Botetourt H.S. A girls : Friday night @ 7:00 Lebanon - Gate City @ Va. High #5 Haysi - #1 Floyd @ B'burg H.S. Adm. is $6 per game.
  25. Could actually happen this time. With a new H.S. on the horizon, a new District might go along with it. As to which district - who knows. 3-4 years ago, talk was of a "super district" with us, GC, PV, maybe even Honaker & Lebanon. There's still a year (or 3) to talk.
