  1. I work at VT, and the lady in the office beside me sold me her season tickets to the Thursday night game between VT and NC (face value $48). she's had season tickets so long, and she has awesome seats... front row, on the 30 yard line, on the visitor side. she said I'll have plenty of leg room because in front of us is the wall... and then the field. so I got to thinking - I should make a big VT / ESPN type sign to try and get on ESPN...... anybody got any suggestions???
  2. just to reply to something hacker said... that someone commented that he ran like AB... I'd say that was the comparisons he got on that side of the stadium. on the Blu side, when he made that one TD run going towards the parking lot, we said he ran like Yubrenal Isabelle. he is the only other Soph that I saw take over the Beaver / Graham game like that. I couldn't believe Montel is just a 10th grader
  3. I was here on April 16th, and I wish someone would have said something then... I wouldn't care if it was a 10 year old girl or 90 year old man. and because of that situation, I don't have a problem with the way things were handled yesterday. I just don't know why all this always happens here.
  4. I just want to point out the part about the report coming from 3 young girls...... here as "campers" - elementary and middle school students.
  5. employees received this email yesterday at 5:05 Dear Students and Colleagues, We thank you for your patience, understanding, and endurance today. We fully understand the difficulty and discomfort of being in your offices or classrooms for five hours. We kept the campus on alert throughout the afternoon through an abundance of caution. We believe that this was the most prudent course of action. As you know, the campus was stressed today when the Virginia Tech Police received a report from three young girls who believed that they saw a person with a weapon. (They were here as "campers" - elementary and middle school students here for a two-day session called Higher Achievement.) Our investigating officer arrived on the scene within a few minutes of the report. The young student campers provided a good description of the person. Based on that sound description, their belief that they saw what they said they saw, and lacking further information to the contrary, we couldn't rule out that it wasn't credible. Thus, we believed the prudent and appropriate course of action was to issue an alert. Since the time of the initial call this morning, there have been no on-going threats known or discovered. We have received NO other reports of a person with a gun or any other threatening behaviors. We have interviewed several persons similar in description to that provided by witnesses this morning. None of those subjects is the person described by the witnesses. Law enforcement officers from VTPD, Blacksburg PD, Christiansburg PD, Virginia State Police, and Montgomery County Sheriff's Office have been patrolling the campus continuing to look for the subject. We have been assisted by several other federal and state law enforcement agencies. As you know, we have lifted the alert, but as always in a situation like this, we suggest that you remain vigilant for possible threats. Maintain awareness of your surroundings and circumstances. Report any suspicious activity or behavior to the VTPD or local law enforcement agency. If you observe a threatening situation, take shelter and contact police as soon as possible. We thank you again for your patience and understanding. Sincerely, Charles W. Steger
  6. just wondering... but when do 2 a days start?
  7. plus their schedule is very tough this year. Freddy may have put them OUT of the playoffs this year with that schedule.
  8. I just signed up, and watched my years... that's great to watch. I had a great defensive game against Woodrow Wilson that year. their pulling guard was SO SLOW, and I would beat him into the backfield every single time.
  9. the mention of Amaker waving at the defender reminds me of a play with Hugh Smalls during the '84 Beaver - Graham (I think that was the year). I was 10, but I remember Hugh hitting the corner, and taking it like 80 yards for a TD. he was looking back, and it was very obvious from the stands (even to a 10 year old) that he was doing something to the guy chasing him... my brother was either on the sidelines of that game, or knew some people in the game. he told me he was sticking his tongue out and laughing at the guy the whole way.
  10. yes - you are correct... it was Tolsia.
  11. I just hope field conditions don't play into it... I know it did a couple years ago when Bluefield played Tyler Co (I think). If I was Ravenswood, I'd hope for a rainy night and a muddy field.
  12. wow - I can't believe Blu is doing this again. I expected a tough game this time...
  13. please post the Bluefield scores... outta town, and can't get the online stream to work. thanks
  14. yeah - I saw him at Sheets in Christiansburg once... I knew his school was around there it don't look like that site has been updated in a while. still has stuff from 2007
  15. WHOA!!! http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/201011180051
  16. couldn't help but click on this link... I don't watch it anymore, but when mv91 mentioned the road warriors, sting, and lex luger against the 4 horsemen, man I couldn't help but go back. being a kid and watching the old NWA and Starcade and the Crockett Cup - man those was fun times. all my friends would come over and stay the night. we'd be so wound up after it was all over that my dad would have to send us outside to wrestle and fight and laugh. I can still remember when Ron Garvin beat Flair for the title... one of my favorite matches ever. Little known fact - did you know that hands of stone Ron Garvin now lives (with his dog) in Marlinton, WV (up close to Snowshoe). He was one of my favorites. I had him and Ax from Demolition in my store in the mall back during the summer. It was humbling to see him and realize he's 60+ now. here is a picture of them in the shop... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=446465359407&set=a.446465134407.234333.759374407
  17. I'm not into country music, but I like what the message is and what the event is about. There was something similar to this last July when Brian "Head" Welch came. there were 4 really good bands... the better part is that it was FREE! wonder if this group is thinking along the same lines?
  18. I was hoping to see some clips of number 12... must not be all that if they don't have any highlights of him
  19. find them here: http://www.wvmetronews.com/hsSports.cfm?func=scoreboard Chapmanville is beating Pikeview... it might be a final by now... I knew that was a tough 1st round draw for them. and it looks like West is putting the smackdown on Hoover. didn't see that one coming.
  20. I agree on that one... I also think Herbert Hoover will give Greenbrier West all they can handle. Hoover had a tough schedule and played them all close. Pikeview got a tough draw too...
  21. never mind... I just read it online... 3 scoreless OT periods. I thought you went until there was a winner
  22. it looks like it was a 16-16 tie? how can you have a tie in WV?
  23. there is an awesome story in the Princeton Times today... go pick up a copy
  24. yep - it's gonna be big... EVERYONE is gonna be there!!! check the event page and look at all that have RSVP'd. it'll be a fun event for all ages. you don't wanna miss it
