  1. I think the North would have been much improved if they had Coop and Dawson as well, but WVU asked them both not to play.
  2. You don't have to be a mind reader. I explained it well enough the first time and don't try to say that you are more knowledgable of the game than I am. I was exposed to the game of football since I could walk. [ QUOTE ] I'd put Virginia teams such as Hampton and Phoebus up against any Ohio or Penn team any day of the week. [/ QUOTE ] That is your opinion and I respect it, but Woodland Hills, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Cleveland St. Ignatius, CB West, Canton Mckinley, and Massilon are recognized as top programs in the nation on a consistant basis. The only thing they know how to do is win. I would take the OH and PA teams over a VA team b/c I see these teams play a lot. There is no point in arguing b/c neither one of us will see it the other's way.
  3. I think you have problem w/ trying to make me look bad any chance you can get. This is what I meant and what I'm saying now. When I said talent, I was referring to TEAMS in VA. Traditionally, PA and OH have some of the strongest football programs as anyone in the nation. I was never talking about players getting recruited anywhere or PA and OH having more D1 prospects than VA so please read my post and don't try to overanalyze everything I say.
  4. I was never talking about VA not having talented players taht go on to major D1 programs. We're talking top high school TEAMS in the nation. PA and OH have a lot of teams that are strong year in and year out and that is why I would put them above VA. I never said VA didn't have talented athletes.
  5. Where did I say Weir could beat anybody? I said they did very well at a passing scrimmage against top notch teams in Western PA. I know Virginia plays good football, but when you talk about states w/ the top teams, OH and PA have to be up higher on your list. OH boasts teams such as Clevenland Benedictine, Canton McKinley, Massilon, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, Cleveland St. Ignatius, Cincinatti Moeller and PA has powerhouse teams like CB West, Central Catholic, Woodland Hills, Erie Cathedral Prep, Aliquippa, and Gateway. I don't follow VA high school football too much but I know that I always hear PA and OH listed among the best w/ CA, FL, and TX.
  6. Well guess what, I don't watch them on Fox Sports, I watch them live. I try to make it to the WPIAL championship games every year and teams in VA would not beat the best of PA. That is why Central Catholic was ranked 8th in the entire nation. When you talk about the states that are strongest when it comes to football, you include PA, TX, CA, OH, and FL. VA has strong football programs, but aren't one of the most states w/an insane amount of talent like the other ones I've named.
  7. I'm not going to argue b/c no matter what I say you're going to downgrade it. No team in your area could hang w/ the teams up there, but Weir did. And TJ does pass the ball. One of their WR's already verbally committed to Pitt. We will see this season.
  8. When you're a WV AA team and you beat the AAA PA state champs and the AAAA PA state champs who were nationally ranked back to back in a passing scrimmage, I'd say that's pretty good. TJ has a kid that already accepted an offer to play at Pitt(it's on the front of pantherreport.com) and Weir shut him down. I don't think there is any other AA team in WV that had the speed and athleticism to beat those teams in a 7 on 7 passing scrimmage.
  9. No, I don't think so. They usually only participate in the Pitt and W&J passing tourneys.
  10. I went up the Dave Wannstedt 7 on 7 passing tourney at Pitt today to watch Weir compete, and they did extremely well. They ended the day at a perfect 5-0. They defeated Pittsburgh Central Catholic(2004 PIAA AAAA state champs and the #8 ranked team in the nation last season), Thomas Jefferson(2004 PIAA AAA state champs), North Star, Richland, and Manheim. They played very well on both sides of the ball. Weir will be a team to be reckoned w/ in 2005. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but they look very solid.
  11. That might be one of the weakest schedules I've seen. You have several A schools and the AA schools you have are at the bottom of the barrel. If you do go 10-0, it's going to be an early exit in the playoffs. Weir and Bluefield are two teams that I can honestly say are battle tested when the playoffs roll around. I'm saying the AA title will again come down to Weir, Wayne, and Bluefield. You need to get your AD to beef up that schedule. Weir is playing in a passing scrimmage this weekend in Pittsburgh that boasts teams like Woodland Hills, North Hills, Penn Hills, Thomas Jefferson, and Central Catholic(#8 team in the nation last season). All of those teams are powerhouses in the WPIAL. Bluefield strengthens their schedule up by adding quality teams from VA while Weir does the same by adding teams from OH along w/ playing some AAA schools in WV. The AA teams they play are usually pretty decent as well. With that schedule, if you don't go undefeated there is something seriously wrong.
  12. That is really a shame. This kid had all the potential in the world, and he's honestly too talented to play at Concord. Hopefully he does well there but he's got D1 ability and it's going to be wasted in the WVIAC, IMO.
  13. I doubt you would crush Shady Spring in a real game. I'm not saying you wouldn't win, but it would not be a blowout. I have a friend who played on the OL at Westside and his last year was the 03 season. He said he'd have rathered played Weir that year than Bluefield and I thought that was funny considering the Weir/Bluefield game was anyone's to win and Bluefield came out and beat them something like 35-8. Westside was ranked 4th or 5th that year and Weir was ranked 8th. I think that just goes to show come playoff time, your seed doesn't really help other than home field advantage b/c eventually you're going to have to beat the best to be the best.
  14. Wow, can we get away from the Weir/Bluefield debate Tom? There is one Weir player on the team who is a lineman and a good one at that but I never said he'd change the complection of the game. Cooper turned down the offer to play by request of the WVU coaches and I believe Dawson did too. Those were two of the top players in the state right there and could have helped the North immensely. However, I think the North team will be fine and has more than enough talent.
  15. I think the rule that schools can have that few weeks of practice in early summer is a great idea. The summer before my senior year is when it first went into effect and it did a lot for our team. It kinda gives the coaches an idea of where some kids stand at different positions. Starting 4 weeks before the first game doesn't give you much time to prepare and get your team ready.
  16. I would like to ask another question. How does the South plan to stop the North's speed and athleticism. I'm not saying you can't, but I'm just wondering how you plan on defending the likes of Nate Sowers, Dana Davis, Chance Litton, Spencer Farley, and Miguel Lockett. I was expecting a blowout last year b/c of the speed of the North, but the South played tough and almost beat them. Anyways good luck to both teams and I hope it's a great game.
  17. I have a question. Who is doing the kicking for the South? I was looking over the roster and it doesn't list a kicker where the North has two, Louden and Shadle. I would have figured Lucas Stone would have been selected since he was one of the top kickers in the state this past season.
  18. BluefieldRules, did I anywhere in my previous post talk about what happened in that game. I've been asking about the copy of the game film and you're trying to start an arguement. However, if you really want to know, I was at the game too and I know how it went. Bluefield went up early 21-0. Weir bounced back and it was 21-7 at the half. Weir scored again in the second half and it was 21-14 which is a one possession game. Bluefield eventually scored again and the game was over. There was no blowout or domination by Bluefield so just quit arguing please.
  19. I like watching good football games and would like to have that '97 battle w/ Bluefield to add to my other Weir football game films. The games are fun to watch on tape and the last two went down to the wire. The only one I needed was the '97 game b/c I used to have it but I think I taped over it.
  20. Weir made a lot of mistakes that game including dropped passes and Bluefield executed when they had to. That was one of the better Bluefield teams all time and it wasn't Weir's best team of the 90's. Weir battled back in the second half and it wasn't against reserves. When Weir and Bluefield meet in anything, it's always a good game. For the last time, does anyone have a copy of the game and not want to start an arguement?
  21. Okay, if you want to think that go ahead. Weir battled back and played Bluefield tough. It should have been Bluefield/Weir in the title game that year as well just like in 03 and 04. If I remember correctly, didn't Bluefield destroy Grafton on the Island? Anyways, this thread was a question to see if anyone had the game not to start a fight so if anyone has a copy please let me know.
  22. This wasn't intended to start any arguements, but you seem to love taking cheap shots BluefieldRocks. I was just wondering if anyone had a copy of the '97 Bluefield/Weir game b/c it was a great game to watch. All 3 games were wars and I've got a lot of people from Bluefield ask me about my copy of the 04 game so I figured I'd see if anyone had the '97 game and make a copy b/c I taped over mine.
  23. Maybe some of you Bluefield fans can help me out w/ this b/c you guys are such big rivals, but it seems like they never contend for a AAA title and I was j/w why? With all that talent around the area and Bluefield constantly having great talent in AA, why doesn't Princeton ever make a run for Wheeling? I know they had a real good team in 02 w/ Will Albin and Anthony Hayes but they lost in the quarterfinals or semis of the playoffs. I'm not trying to say Princeton doesn't have athletes. I'm just trying to find out why they aren't usually a factor in the postseason.
  24. the '97 Bluefield/Weir playoff game? I'd like to have copies of all 3 games(97,03,&04) for my game film collection LOL.
  25. I know this isn't around yall's area, but Weir is going to compete in the Univ. of Pittsburgh's 7 on 7 passing tournament for the second year in a row. I think they are also competing in Washington & Jefferson College's passing scrimmage as well.
