  1. I'm going to try to help out Garon as much as I can to get WVU to notice him. I would love to see this kid put on the Mountaineer Gold and Blue and when he proves EVERY ONE of the doubters wrong, I'm going to say I told you so. He's a great athlete and a D1 back and I'm definitely hoping it will be as a Mountaineer.
  2. I'm a huge Carolina fan as well. I've gone to bball camps, know the AD who introduced me to Stackhouse, visit NC almost every year. I'm a die hard Tarheel and I can't wait until we get back on top. This season should be a little bit shaky, but will provide good playing experience for a very young team. As Bluefield_Rules said, in 06-7, watch out for the Heels again.
  3. I didn't buy into the hype, but Lou Green is as good as advertised. He can sure bring the heat. Congrats to Logan and I'm not taking anything away from them, bu the score didn't reflect the game. Weir left Quatrocchi in for too long and Logan got to him on one big inning. The other 6 inning Logan only scored two runs. Weir also had some costly erros. Oh, well congrats to Weir and Logan both on great seasons!!!
  4. Thanks beaverbaseball. I appreciate it. I'm leaving for the tourney now so I'll talk to yall after a Weir victory!!!
  5. Shadyfan, you show a lot of class. I know I couldn't come on after Weir suffered a tough loss(i.e. Bluefield in football or Logan in bball) and say they were the better team. I really respect you and the game could have gone either way. Shady had a very good team and a great season. Hopefully we can win tomorrow so Shady can say the only team they lost to two years in a row was the state champions. You have a good program down there and I'm hoping to see the Tigers back in Charleston next year!!!
  6. Logan wins 4-2. They will play Weir tomorrow for the AA state title tomorrow.
  7. Logan is winning in the 6th 2-1. It's a good game. I'll post the winner when the game is over.
  8. It was a crazy game. These guys have had some great comebacks the past two years. This might have been one of the best, though. Down 4-3 in the top of the 7th, pinch hitter Eric Hayden hit a single. Brandon Sperlazza then got a double and advanced pinch runner Steven Buffo to third. Jason Gatto was asked if he wanted to try to bunt and try to score the runner on a squeeze play or hit away. He's a competitor and chose to hit away and hit a single up the middle scoring both runners. Weir goes back to the state championship to defend their AA title!!! Congrats fellas and bring back ANOTHER state title back to the 'Ton!!!
  9. [ QUOTE ] come on Weir, lay off BlfdRocks, ive heard you refer to Weir as "i, us, we' and everthing else last yr and you didnt play in 04. now if you arent nice to us Blfd folks, WE just might break your hearts again this yr..hahaha [/ QUOTE ] I said we b/c I was teammates w/ the seniors on the 04 team almost all through high school. I had already graduated, but I still strapped on the helmet and pads and didn't go around in the stands my four years in high school and saw well we beat this team and we beat that team. For your comment about this coming season, I can guarantee you Weir will be waiting and like always, isn't going to be intimidated by anyone.
  10. [ QUOTE ] I like Garon and I guarantee that he is going to have a big year for the Wave but speaking from experience from playing againist him and Bradshaw, he is nowhere near Bradshaw's level yet. [/ QUOTE ] Let's talk after this season. Garon hasn't even got a chance to play as a senior yet. [ QUOTE ] Not knocking him but Bradshaw was a truely exceptional player that could change the face of a game at anytime, offense, defense or special teams. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, just too bad he had to mess up his big time offer to UVA and has to play at Moo U now!!!
  11. Alright, it sounded like you were just trying to start stuff but if you say you weren't it's cool.
  12. He will be playing w/ former Weir standout basketball player Pierre Currenton. Good luck to Repass and I hope he has a good career at Bluefield State.
  13. You meant it as a cheap shot, but I've come to expect that. I can say at the end of the day that I gave my all on the field in practice and during games. We didn't win the state title my senior year, but all of us seniors left a little part of us on the field at Mitchell Stadium and I don't regret anything about that season.
  14. You said "when we beat you guys." What did you do to contribute to the team's title and success? Please tell me. When you play football, sure you appreciate all the support from the students. However, noone but the players and coaches understand what goes into being a successful team. You can go to all the games you want but you personally didn't help Bluefield beat Weir. I believe this post was about Garon Marcum not getting props at the combine in Akron, though. I don't know why you brought up Bluefield/Weir.
  15. [ QUOTE ] I bet it was a LONG busride home when we came back and beat yall! [/ QUOTE ] And I get blamed for starting Bluefield/Weir debates? And what is this WE stuff? You didn't play. I gave my all as well as did every other Weir player the past two years against Bluefield, but we unfortunately came up short. But I don't like you saying we, b/c unless you strap on the helmet and pads you can't talk. Also, Weir will be back and is the favorite this season. IMO, they will take the whole thing. Also, the incoming freshman class has unbelievable talent so Weir isn't going anywhere for a long time. They lost 1 total game in middle school. I think their class has a good chance to win titles their junior and senior years w/ the talent. Remember the name Branko Busick b/c he will be the next Cooper for Weir. Ahtleticism runs in his family b/c his brother was an all state lineman who started from his sophomore season in 97 on. His dad was a pro wrestler in the WWF. This class already has around 5 kids benching at least 235 lbs.
  16. I have a friend that plays for OH powerhouse Steubenville Big Red that will be attending that camp. That's not really near where I live though LOL. I go to WVU and it's about 1 1/2 hours from where I'm from. I'm a little farther north than where Morgantown is located in north-central WV
  17. [ QUOTE ] Hey WeirFootball, I played against marcum and I will admit that he is a good player. Its different to watch him in the stands and be down there tryin to keep ur feet uncrossed. You should go watch him play though. Btw, where is weir? [/ QUOTE ] I would go watch him play, but Grundy is about 5 hours from where I live LOL. The city of Weirton(where Weir High is located) is at the top of the WV's northern panhandle. It's about 25 minutes north of Wheeling, WV and 35-45 minutes west of Pittsburgh, PA.
  18. To be honest, I hope Marcum comes out and just tears up so he can throw it back in the faces of all the people on here that doubted him. I am impartial to this subject, b/c like I said, I didn't know Grundy existed unti this year. I just see a bunch of people trashing him saying he didn't play against good competition, only had a high YPC avg. b/c he didn't have a lot of carries, ect. Look, the kid is a player and he went to this combine and did his thing against some of the top prep athletes in the country. I think the kid deserves a little bit more respect than he gets on here. So what if jmarcum comes on here and likes to talk his little brother up. It's his family. If I had a little brother that was a star like that, I'd brag to everyone as well. Good luck to Garon and I hope he has a great senior season!!!
  19. I'm not doubting your brother Aaron, but the LB from my team that you're talking about is Zac Cooper and he's a beast. He rushed for 150 yds on Bluefield and was a two time first team all state selection(capt. his senior year) and the 04 Huff Award winner. He was also rated #33 LB by rivals.com this past season. He was probably the best football player to come out of Weir High since Quincy Wilson.
  20. BluefieldRocks, do you play football? j/w I've watched the games many times and I don't think I'll watch it again. I wasn't even a member of the team, but it makes me sick to even see the events unfold like they did. Also BluefieldRocks, I wouldn't be so negative. Noone ever thought we'd turn our program around after the 4 losing seasons we had after our state champioship in 98, but we did and are now a top program in AA.
  21. Yeah jmarcum, it was a pretty bad experience. I was on the 03 team that lost to the Beavers in 2 OT's but it couldn't have compared to what these kids went through this past year. Anyways, that's in the past and I personally know that the upcoming seniors are working their tails off so nothing like this happens again. I think w/ the leadership and talent they have, they will finish what they started last year. And before anyone gets mad, I'm not taking anything away from Bluefield. But getting back to Garon, I think he's a real talent and will get plenty of offers by the time his senior season is over. From what you say, he sort of reminds me of a good friend of mine, Eric Turner who was my teammate from 7th grade through high school. Going into his senior year, everyone knew he was a great athlete but didn't have any offers. He pushed himself very hard that offseason to prove he was good enough and is now playing for WVU and could see some serious playing time on special teams as a redshirt freshman this season. Anyways, good luck to Garon and I hope everything works out for him.
  22. I will give my opinion on this, which is unbiased b/c I didn't even know Grundy existed until I started posting on this site and talking to people from Bluefield. This kid is a player, plain and simple. I watched the highlight tape lance posted a while back and the 40 tapes he just put up and this kid is a D1 athlete from what I can see. I wouldn't put too much stock into the Nike Camps and all that b/c as you said, they know who they like before the camp even starts. If he has the season he should w/ his ability, the colleges will start lining up to try to get him to sign his LOI to play for them. I hope he becomes a Mountaineer!!!
  23. We usually bring a lot of fans when we travel and I'm sure this year will be no different. We've always had a good following the two years we played at Bluefield and when we make it to the bball tourney, we bring a lot as well. Hopefully we can fill up the new ballpark.
  24. LOL We'll see about that. Good luck though and have a safe trip to Charleston.
  25. [ QUOTE ] We lost 1 starter we return everyone else, so it should be a good game. Good luck to you guys as well and you will see me there!! [/ QUOTE ] As you probably already know, Weir only lost one starter but that starter was an all-stater who was 11-1 w/ a 1.6 ERA and hit over .350 and had around 4-5 HR's. However, Weir has done very well even w/ the loss of Coxen. The PA transfer, McNabb has stepped in and filled his shoes pretty nicely. I'm hoping for a good game and I think it's going to be Weir and Logan playing for the AA title.
