  1. You got me there LOL. I am looking forward to this game a lot though. It sucks the series has to end.
  2. Hey bigd4vt, will you be attending VT's game against WVU this year? j/w You know you'll have to see them go out w/ an L. HAHA
  3. For all the WV HS football fans or even the VA HS football fans that follow WV, I want some opinions on who you guys think is going to win it all in AAA, AA, and A this coming season.
  4. Dissibio was a heck of a player. I watched 97 Weir/Bluefield game the other day when I got my copy. The commentators said he was a legit D1 prospect and I can believe it. I was at that game, but was only in like 6th grade so I only remembered Tynes, Dews, and Amaker b/c they had all had big games. Did Dissibio end up playing anywhere buzzsaw?
  5. Once again, I'm not getting into another arguement over Bluefield/Weir. I just pointed out that someone told me that all their players were from Bluefield.
  6. I just go by people that I know from down there that say the Beaver players are from Bluefield. I'm just pointing out where that statement is a little off.
  7. Okay, it's not like it will make a difference anyways!
  8. RenegadeMuscle, I already told you. I had two friends play in the North/South game last year. Your coach nominates you and then the coach of the game chooses his team from the nominations he gets.
  9. [ QUOTE ] THERE IS NO GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYED IN THE NORTH, PERIOD! [/ QUOTE ] Is that why in WV last year, two out of the three teams that won state titles were from the North? The year before Moorefield and Parkersburg South won state titles as well and they aren't southern teams.
  10. I'm not as arrogant as some of the Bluefield posters. As I said, I take the smack talking in stride. Anyways, in response to your question about how he's doing at WVU, I haven't heard much other than he's working very hard and has a chance to make an immediate contribution. He set a freshman record for power cleans, if I'm not mistaken. He, along w/ another former Weir standout Eric Turner, should see a lot of playing time this season. Turner will probably be a contributor on special teams, but Cooper could see a lot of playing time at LB.
  11. I remember you even saying the teams were evenly matched Tom lol. And yeah, I did take the talking w/o any problem. I can take a joke. So whoever wants to put false information out there about me can keep going, b/c it doesn't bother me.
  12. I don't need to base it off the 7 on 7 tournament. I know how good they will be. All of you are entitled to your opinions, and I respect that and I know you don't like Weir and that's your choice. However, if/when they win a state title this season, I won't be rubbing it in anyone's face even if Bluefield is one of the stops on the way, I can tell you that much. No matter what anyone said, I gave Bluefield credit where it was due. It takes a lot to go 14-0 and that is a very impressive accomplishment. Even though I felt the game against Weir should have gone the other way, I congratulated the Bluefield fans that I went to the state title game w/ after the Beavers beat Wayne and took all of the razzing about Weir from them in stride. I don't have anything against Bluefield and think they have a good program and are always a contender, but I'm tired of hearing about Bluefield being superior b/c in the past two seasons they looked pretty evenly matched to me.
  13. I'm pretty sure your coach has to nominate you and then the coach of the game decides who he wants to take.
  14. I went to WVU's camp beofore my senior year w/ a friend from the team and I didn't see any special treatment or any players getting looked down upon b/c they were from WV. I hung out w/ the guys that played for Poca and it seemed like Coach Rod was very interested in one of them. He asked him to stop by his office several times and he never said his talent wasn't noticed b/c he was an in-state player. Maybe I just missed it, but I didn't see anything like that.
  15. Trust me when I say NONE of the players wanted that play to be called and even argued it in the huddle. The players on the team also didn't think they could do no wrong. That is why they wanted to play it safe and put away the game running the ball and grinding out the clock. Bluefield showed a lot of resilience, but for a coach to jeapordize an entire season of hard work those guys put in is ridiculous. Weir had great success on the ground the whole game and I honestly don't know what possessed him to call a pass out to the flats. He might have been thinking he would catch the Bluefield D sleeping, but it was still a horrible call. If they would have given either Cooper or Josh Smith the ball, I have a lot of confidence that either one of them would have got the 2-3 yards needed for the first down. Even if they didn't, there is no way Bluefield is driving down the field twice in 2:30 but that game is over and all the Weir players can do is look towards this coming season.
  16. That's your opinion, but it's too bad RRod didn't see it like that. Also BluefieldRules, don't even try to make jokes. I know Coop and played at Weir w/ him. You just follow Coeburn around and try to pass his accomplishments off as your own. How can you even try to say that when you started a thread on multiple boards just on Coeburn, not on the game alone. Like I said, I just tell it like it is. Other Bluefield fans think he's a good player, but they aren't obsessed w/ him as you are. I also think it's funny when someone said I can't give credit to a player from another team when you BR tried to question Garon Marcum's talent and made the statement before the kid stepped on the field for his senior year that he wasn't a D1 RB. You're a hypocrite and I hope he puts up 200+ on you this year and then comes and throws it in your face. However, I doubt he'd do that b/c he shows class and does his talking on the field. Good luck this season and I hope there will be another meeting between Weir/Bluefield this year. Tom, you didn't see the hit b/c you don't have a copy of the game yet LOL.
  17. Yeah I was correcting the dumb statement that someone made about Ed Cota being overrated. I couldn't just let that go b/c that person obviously never watched him play. However, the thread wasn't about college hoops. I don't care if anyone doesn't like me. I tell it how it is and if you don't like it, oh well. One more thing, noone is bullying me.
  18. I gave you the facts. The recruiters don't lie. That's all I'm going to say about this b/c it's not going to do any good arguing about it.
  19. You have to be kidding me. I'm not talking about an interception return. Coop ran over Coeburn and put him out of the game for a while. Also, I just watched the tape as I already said and Crow laid him out on a block. Coeburn would NEVER run over Coop and I doubt he'd run over Josh Smith(#33) either. He might get the better end of a hit w/ some Weir players simply b/c of his size. Cooper is playing at a Big East school and has already set freshman records in the weight room and Coeburn is playing at D2 Wesleyan. There is nothing wrong w/ that, but there isn't really a comparison when you talk talent.
  20. I think Coeburn is a really good player w/ a lot of potential. However, I know of many people that were either in attendance watching/playing in that game and I heard that he didn't "dominate" the game as many of you said. Coeburn is lucky Coop didn't play. He could have been seeing flashbacks of getting run over. I watched the tape last night again b/c I finally got my copy back and I couldn't believe what I saw. I found a huge block where Crow who is 155 lbs. just laid Rusty out while helping Coop spring a big run. I honestly am glad Coop didn't play though. The way they are talking, he has a good chance of starting this year or at least getting a lot of playing time. It was smart to play it safe and not risk injury.
  21. This thread was about Weir's impressive performance at the Pitt passing scrimmage, not about Michael Vick, Ronald Curry, or the talent in VA. Can we please get back on topic. KBL, I agree w/ you 100%. These guys don't know how much talent was there and would have to see it in person like we did to fully appreciate it. I watched a few Brooke games and they didn't look too bad considering they had a lot of talented athletes decide not to go out for the team this season. I look forward as always to the Weir/Brooke battle.
  22. You must not follow college hoops too much if you think Ed Cota was overrated. He was a floor general that could handle the rock as well as anyone. He saw things before they happened. I remember a few oops hew threw to Vince Carter that were amazing. As for Ronald Curry, you really can't say he's overrated b/c he never really got a chance to shine. He, along w/ Julius Peppers, decided to only concentrate on football. They both contributed when they got playing time, but I think both of their decisions turned out to be very smart ones. They are both doing very well in the NFL.
  23. Hampton's QB was Ronald Curry who went on to play basketball and football at UNC. I think he's in the NFL now, but not sure which team he's on. Charlotte Independence is a great team. They've won several state championships in NC recently. Florida's QB, Chris Leak, played for Independence. My uncle lives right outside of Charlotte so I hear all about how good Independence is.
