  1. I think if Hurley plays like they did against grundy there is a very good chance of an upset. But the last four games Hurley has been very incosistant. Lost to R-lands, beat Ervington, lost to Appy. and Mt. Mission (although the boys played there second best game of the season). Getting the ball inside is gonna be hard tomarrow night because Baldwin is a very good shot blocker and our post guy is 6'4 compared to 6'7 so the boys just got to rebound and hopefully hit there open shots. I think Hurley will be ready to play and I think the panthers will probably look past the rebels because they were picked last and only have 6 kids left and thats why i am picking Hurley in a major upset.
  2. Hurley 60 Ervington 53 Hurley Rebounded horrible and didn't do good on D in the first Half. That all changed in the second half as they controled the boards in the 2nd half. Hurley finished the game with for players in double figures. Chris P. scored 13 points and played the best game that he has played all season he also led the team in rebounds. Eric May had 16, Dustin had 12, Scottie 10.
  3. Hurley travels into (Rife's) Raider territory tomarrow for a rematch of what was a hottly contested game at hurley earlier this month. Hurley comes into this game on a three game winning streak, two of which were routs (Grundy 58-34, and Northwood 62-32, they also had a somewhat contested game against Ervington). Just wanted to know if u guys got any predictions for tomarrows game.
  4. First of all this is a basketball message board....Not a Political Message Board..
  5. Twin Valley is tough but if hurley plays like the way they played grundy it would be an extremely close game. But like u said if they play like they did against ervington and northwood it would be a long night. All that matters as of right now is that Hurley and Twin Valley were co-champs of the Ramey's Holiday Classic. Way to go REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Well hurtholdback12 the hurley boys did beat grundy and if u havent noticed they play better against better teams so dont talk it if you cant back it up. JOE
  7. You can blame people for the game all you like but the reality of it is Hurley still beat Grundy by 24 points.
  8. I love how you say that you are a real Hurley fan but don't think they have a chance against Richlands. And Talking about how we did to work on D-Fense we have held every opponent except Mt. Mission to under 50 pts and against ervington #12 hit 3's with guys in his face just a good shooter. But if we come out ready to play we have a chance if we just our big guys to work inside and get some of the pressure off Dustin and Scottie.
  9. Theo First of all, you played one year in the Hurley System, so u know what happens people have worked with matt and he has improved since then. He isn't no Brad Nuckels or anything but he does his best. If he would have got stronger matt could have been a good ball player. Second of all You better be ready to play the rebels because i know the seniors that were 8th graders when u left would like nothing better to beat u. Especially Scottie and Dustin. Thats the game that is marked on there calander. Because Everyone knows Grundy thinks they are better than Hurley, and these boys are out to prove u wrong. Hurley wants to beat Grundy but most of all they want to beat Theo and Stephen...
  10. The Rebels stepped up saturday and had a good victory over a struggling Appalichia Team. Dustin Christian led all scores with 22 points, and Scottie Potter added 7 and played great D-Fense.. But back to people talking about coach horne. Coach has his team ready to play every night. He is the coach and people shoulden't be talking trash about him don't forget his team won a Region D Championship in 1987, and should have won another one in 92', he also took a girls team to the state tournement. So just stop and look at his accomplishments. People Say his Style of Coaching is Outdated, its not the plays he designs work and he wants his team to get out a push the ball and get up and down the floor which is what it takes now a days. So Coach Horne still know how to win.
  11. Haysi is a pretty strong ball club and honestly I think they are better than Twin Valley... Kevin Viers is probley the most underrated player in the district. He is a Solid leader for a Solid Ball Club. Any Way i think the district will turn out like this... Haysi, Twin Valley Council, Hurley, and Honaker
  12. gonna be alright... we will struggle our first few games.. have to get production from matt (the 6'8 guy) so he can draw attention away from our 3 point shooters..
  13. Here are My guesses.... Jake Colley - Haysi Nick Harmon - Twin Valley Kent Goodman - Council Kevin Viers - Haysi Dustin Christian - Hurley D.J. Barton - Council Scottie Potter - Hurley Jermiah Lester - Twin Valley Tyler Patrick - Honaker Don't know if he gonna play Derek Keen - Twin Valley K.T. Vandyke - Twin Valley Danny Robinson - Hurley Ryan Jones - Haysi Jacob Shotridge - Honaker Alex Vandyke - Twin Valley
  14. The 2004 Rebel season could go one of two ways... Up from the 6 wins from last year... or down in which most people are projecting.. These rebels will be lead by 7 seniors. who have played together for 4th grade. But Hurley has only one returning starter from last year in Dustin Christian (9.8 ppg)... Dustin has the ability to step outside or go inside, but lacks in the Defensive category. The rebels also return part-time starter Scottie Potter. Potter who is a solid ball handler will be asked to pick up the offensive load in his senior season. Helping the cause this year will be Football Standouts Danny Robinson (6-4,250,SR) who will be a presents inside, along with John Rife (5'11,185,SR) who has great speed. Chris Prater is a tall lanky swingman who can jump out of the gym. DJ McCracken a 1st year senior brings the ability to shoot from outside or in and is one of the best free throw shooters on the team... Matt Sloan (6'8 230) will roam the paint for the rebels this year... key players include Eric May and Shane Shelton. The Rebels have a fairly tough schedule this year... But in the BDD it's always tough. Everyone thinks its Twin Valley and Haysi. But the rebels could step up and shock some people with the senior leadership this team has.
  15. This has nothing to do with the SWD but. Hurley has a 6'8" center and a 6'4" backup....and every starter but one is 6'2" or taller....but height doesn't mean everything...
