  1. bad in an understatement IMO although PV played WS tough a few weeks ago, still WS ended up beating them by 18 Bluefield would win by 19 by a final of 58-39 setting up the much anticipated Bluefield/Wyo. East AA championship battle of the coal classic!
  2. didnt Princeton play beckely pretty good this season? i mean i know beckley won, but for the most part the game was close wasnt it?
  3. thanxs! best of luck to your Beavs come Coal Classic title time!
  4. yeah kinda shocking to me too but i think OH proved how to beat WE, just shut down Caldwell and break there press and do well on defense...lol someone might say that sounds like a tough task or might even say something else....but if OH can do i'm bout positive a Westside or Bluefield could do it! and hopefully this is exactly what Westside will do in the next two meetings with East!
  5. i'd about willing to say that too Blfd/East for the AA Coal Classic title should be a great matchup, one that depending on what time it would be, i would like to come and watch! best of luck to ya guys
  6. i'd be willing to say you have nothing to worry about i figure Blfd wins by double digits in this game!
  7. doesnt seem as if Logan is fairing to well against some of the bigger boys of AA. losing by 25 to Westside and by 7 to Bluefield, and the big story is only scoring 13pts in the 2nd half WOW i can only imagine how Hatcher was reacting to this. i would imagine that the fact of Logan's two main scorers in Green and Robertson being out contributed to this factor, but still word is that Logan is suppose to have a deep bench and not lose pase when they a player or two is took out of the game. will be interesting to see what developes this yr for the defending AA champs and it will also be interesting to see Blfd. and Logan hook up again later in the season hopefully both teams will have there full roster and all will be in good health and just get a good game! congrats to Bluefield on the win!
  8. East has a butt load of talent this yr i mean you cant just watch/guard one kid, cause if you focus on him they have 4, or 5 others that could step up and beat ya! to tell ya what kinda plays they play in most i cant cause i've not even got to see them play yet! but i can tell ya about some of there players the main leader of the team is Justin Caldwell, he's the one averaging the most points for the team! behind him is Nick Rezzonico, followed by Corey Willard, Zach Blankenship, Andrew Meneghini, and Jason Shrewsbury East has the talent but i really question there depth, if anyone one of those 6 that i just mentioned was to get into foul trouble i think it could cause problems for them! Caldwell is just a beast from inside or outside (he really lite up your world from outside if given the chance) and its as i said its not just one player, cause so can Rezzonico, Blankenship, and Willard East has an all around good team and will be a real challenge for Westside come sectionals and should we lose to them i about gurantee them being in charleston and giving teams down in charleston trouble too! East has only suffered two loses 1st lose was at the start of the season at charleston against Winfield (lost by 12 i believe) and then later in the season they traveled to Ravenswood and lost by only 4pts there. it should be a interesting game come time for Wyo. East and Bluefield to meet in the championship game! the scary thing is, Caldwell, Blankenship, Shrewsbury, Rezzonico, Willard are all juniors and will be back next yr!
  9. JM's head coach and asst. coach are both brothers and both are originally from Oceana, both played on the Indians team Mathis apart of the 93 runner up team and 94 state champion team and his brother Dave was a part of the 2001 state runner up team in Single A! they both have basketball running through there blood as there father is former Oceana girls coach and current Westside girls coach Larry Mathis who also made a name for himself back in the 60s or 70s in basketball and also coached the Oceana boys team to a many state tourney appearances in the 80s i really look for JM to keep on improving as long as the Mathis boys are there, Jason has a way in bringing out the best in players, a sign of a good coach IMO and i believe your right in your assumption that JM will be the team in the sectional final with Bluefield. but in the end i still look for Bluefield to find a way to win! congratz on the win and good luck against Logan tomorrow!
  10. cause there was a scuffle in the Logan/Chapmanville game last week. there was a Chapmanville player who from what i can understand threw a ball in Logan's Cory Eplin's face and cause a scuffle to happen between the two which saw the other two Logan players (Green and Robertson) to come to his aid. all in all when it was over and done with the 3 Logan players got ejected and thus suspended for 2 games (Poca on Thursday night and then Bluefield on Saturday) ppl keep on saying Logan has a deep bench, but it didnt show against Westside, it will be interesting to see who can step up for the Wildcats come Saturday against a talented Bluefield squad. as i said right now i gotta give the edge to Bluefield, simply cause Green is the floor general and is the one who most of the offense goes around! him and Robertson has been the only consistent ones to put up high numbers for Logan...so as i said it will be interesting!
  11. yeah i'm gonna try to attend that Bluefield/Logan game next week! it should be interesting! Logan will be without 3 of their players ( who in whom are big scores for Logan) the players that will be out are C.B. Green, Chris Robertson, and Cory Eplin alot of the Logan fans say they have a deep bench, but it didnt show against Westside... it will be interesting to see who they can look to step up for them... in the end i gotta go with Bluefield for the win! cause as of to date Green and Robertson was the only two putting up double digits for Logan!
  12. yeah the game was at East! and despite lopsided officiating, i was told Westside couldnt put one in the ocean, as the old saying goes... i believe it will be a good learning experince for the boys, as a believe any type of loss adds character to your team, and helps you work on your weak points and plus it causes you to realize you are not invinsible i believe the next two games will be more interesting, i could careless about whether or not we win the next on (which is on Feb. 10th) just as long as we win the one that matters in the sectional game come March! and thanxs for answer my question on the football game, i wasnt sure how many you all had won, but i'm pretty sure Westside's beat Liberty twice in football havent they? once in the regular season and then the game in the playoffs too.... either way thanxs again!
  13. i know Mt. View has a band in the gym when ever Westside goes there and plays them and so does Man! and i personally like it and would love to see it done that way at Westside or music played or something, but none of the sorts is done!
  14. East did there homework, plain and simple. they seemed to have an answer for everything! i've said all season long that East would be a contender and should be watched for and they just proved that by there performance against Westside! i'm not saying they are an all round better team than Westside but on that night they proved to be. plus from what i'm told, some homering went on @ East. touch fouls being called at one end but let go at another end! either way i'm sure Coach Hopkins will make this a learning experience for this yrs squad and will be build off of it i personally cant really say much about the game for sure cause i wasnt there. as for Liberty a win against Indy is a decent win, not a good win, but for your program and considering what you all have this season that's a decent win! so i say congratz as for the Westside/Liberty game it will be interesting, just for the simple fact of seeing how Westside will bounce back after there first loss. i believe Tyler and all the other boys will be up for the game, nad you are right Tyler is not all we have, Chris Blankenship, Shawn Clark, Justin Sizemore, Kyle Lusk, Marcus Gunter, Eric Bailey, Cody Toler, Derick Adkins, and Derick Good when he gets back makes up this squad of Renegades, and on this team they are not stars, just a group of kids who play team ball...i just hope if we win Tuesday night that none of the garbage happens this yr like did last yr when we got rocks thrown at our bus... oh and by the way how many of the football games have you all won in the series?
  15. i dunno what the origin for the topic is, but to answer your questions, i say no and yes. no they will not win an away game and yes they will lose some home games! i've seen Liberty ® on two different occassions against Mt. View, when at halftime they have a 10pt lead and lose that 10pt lead and the game in the 3rd qt. allowing Mt. View to score 30 some points on them in that qt. and then i seen them against Shady Springs, and the only good thing they got going for them is there PG and when there lucky there outside shooting, if the outside shooting is going down for them they are hurting. Liberty ® lost a lot when Tyler Davis transfered to Westside. not saying he would have made a difference in the outcome of there season, but he sure could have helped them win some games. it's gonna be a long hard season for the raiders in basketball, but i wish them all the luck in the world (except when against Westside)
  16. sounds as if Blfd. ran into the same problem with Princeton as Westside did when the scrimmaged them. again i still say Princeton will continue to surprise some ppl through this yr and the next few yrs...
  17. some of the Westside followers told me and others over on BR's board that Princeton would surprise some ppl this season. i didnt believe it at first but when more talks from WS started telling me this, i kinda bought into the hype. now i dunno how the game went, as far as officiating, but if the comparisons to Bluefield in this game to them in the semi-final's is true, then Blfd. must have looked bad then! cause i'd never seen a team throw up so many three's and do as bad as they did against WS in the semi's in Charleston, and that is no slam against them, just stating truth, i still scratch my head from that. but with all that being said i will still stand by what i said over on BR's site about this whole situation. i think some of you guys might be jumping to the gun on your predictions and thoughts of how Blfd. will do this season. i mean i'll be the first to admit, i'm not a bluefield fan or anything like that, especially when it comes to basketball i'm renegade to the bone, but as folks told me when i was an Oceana Indian to the bone and our Indians wouldnt do to good, they'd always say these regular season games are just practice! it doesnt mean nothing until March! so dont worry until then, you team has all this time to get prepaired for the zone attack and all that. i gotta feeling Blfd. will be fine come tourney time, and will be among the final 4 if not final 2 in basketball this season.
  18. [ QUOTE ] princeton always thinks they're better than what they are anyway, they celebrated after the game like they beat duke or somethin, they'll have a losing record in AAA again this year and blfd will beat them the next 2 times with brooks and JT powell back [/ QUOTE ] i dunno about that. i think Princeton is gonna surprise a few ppl this season, in no way do i think they will beat Beckley to get to Charleston come March, but i believe they will surprise some folks and be a solid AAA program the next yr or two... i think there new coach will make a worlds of difference for them....just my $0.02 worth from what i've seen out of them
  19. one thing i've learnt real quick dont base what you do or how bad you beat team in a scrimmage on how well you'll do against them in a regular season game! here in southern WV my high school, the Westside Renegades played the James Monroe Mavericks in a scrimmage back in the summer and blew them out of the water, then just played them here a few days ago and Westside would win by only by 5! a team can improve for sure! as for here in southern WV some of the better teams would be in Single A - MCA, Tug Valley, Gilbert, Burch, Williamson.. in AA - Bluefield, Westside, Wyo. East, Logan.... in AAA: Beckley-Woodrow Wilson
  20. thanxs man i appreciate that! never thought about checking the BDT online....
