  1. My guess is 83-84 mph. Good control. Good offspeed. Hits his target very well.
  2. But the bottom line in any sport is the scoreboard. When the other team is talking smack, you just point to the scoreboard and say huh? Until you win the game, that is what ultimately counts. It's like I tell my son, you have to learn to compete. Compete, then you have the right to be cocky.
  3. What about Barreras for Graham? He held Richlands to 3 runs. That has got to be a season low for the Tornado.
  4. Richlands won tonight 12-0. Barnett kid pitched a very impressive game. Tazewell couldn't get the bats going against him.
  5. Regarding baseball, I can't really agree. Richlands is very solid this year. Look for them to make some noise in the postseason. Carroll is usually competitive every year as is the case this year. Tazewell is very young this year, but still pretty good. They are capable of pulling a surprise. Graham, what can you say? Some games they have hit it a ton. The old adage is that good pitching stops good hitting. That is the story of their season. They do not have a true #1 or #2 starter. With Abingdon coming into the district next year, look for the district to get stronger next year, at least for the top teams (Abingdon,Richlands,Tazewell,Carroll). Marion is improving. Look for Grundy and Graham to slide.
  6. Tazewell won I believe 17-1.
  7. Graham won the JV game by one in OT. At the start of the 4th quarter of the varsity game, Richlands was up by one or two pts. Had to leave though.
  8. No, it wasn't a dunk. I believe it was a layup.
  9. Yes. Nice accomplishment. Congratulations.
  10. I read a recent study that said the odds of a high school athlete going pro in any sport is 1 in 16,000. It didn't say what the odds were for the individual sports though.
  11. Beat Bluefield? Not so sure about that.
  12. Bulldog52, What kind of post is that? You call yourself a fan? I don't think so. You should be embarrassed. The better team won today. Be proud of your team this year. They and your quarterback played well.
  13. Tazewell is playing Big Stone Gap now. It is 5-1 Tazewell in the top of the fifth. Home runs by Ryan Hankins, Christian Boyd, and Austin Kinder in the fifth broke open a 1-1 game. Zach Wasi pitching today. Quite an accomplishment for Tazewell this year on the little league/junior league fields
  14. Tazewell won today 7-2 over Bennetts Creek. They play Monday at 11:30 AM against Big Stone Gap. Should be a great ballgame. At worst they are top eight in the state. They have their pitching lined out now. If they get by tomorrow, anything can happen. Dylan Crouse pitched a great ballgame today. They played great defense combined with timely hitting. Not the homeruns they hit the first two games, but they did what they needed to do. Ryan Hankins is the one hitting alot of homeruns for the 11-12 team. His younger brother Justin played on the 9-10 team for Tazewell. Continued good luck to Tazewell, and we'll be there to keep rooting them on. Kudos to Richlands for putting on great tournament.
  15. I think you are right. It was 8 innings. Fort Run has a good ballclub. Tazewell is right there with any team there though. Given a second chance, I think they would beat them. It isn't often that you will see 4 solo home runs in one game. It was Tazewell's year in the district, winning the 9-10,11-12,and the junior league championships. I wish them luck the rest of the way. I know I will be there tomorrow to root them on. I was really impressed with the support today.
  16. Tazewell lost 6-4 in 7 innings. Great game. Treston Earley pitched into the fourth, relieved by Ryan Hankins. Tazewell hit four solo homeruns today, giving them nine for the first two games. They went to the top of the seventh inning tied 3-3, but several errors combinrd with a few hits allowed 3 runs to score for Fort Run. Tazewell got a run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a 270 foot home run by Ryan Hankins, his second of the game. Tazewell plays Sunday at 5:30 against Bennett Creek. A win should get them to single elimination bracket play on Monday. Tazewell is representing District 11 very well, and I believe is one one the strongest teams there. Huge crowd today. It was nice to see so many out to support them.
  17. Tazewell won 13-1 in 5 innings. Tazewell hit 5 home runs. Zach Wasilieski hit 2. Dominating tonight. They play tomorrow at 3:00.
