  1. Ah. So the meeting on the 22nd will be a formality. Thanks. I guess I should've looked back further than a page or two. The VHSL site says it was put up there on the 4th. Was there a thread on that somewhere? Grundy does have the #'s to play A but they need to find someone that'll take them. Any updates on Battle's wishes to rejoin the Hogo?
  2. Apologies if this has already been posted on another board. http://www.vhsl.org/MoreAboutVHSL/RR.htm It's the top Word document. In other news, John Battle wants to play in the Hogoheegee again and E.C. Glass wants to drop down to Group AA and play in the Seminole.
  3. Whoops, didn't see the 'M' in CMD. The CMD plays a double-round robin as you noticed and the tournament will be @ Lebanon. They have a district tournament. I think they have a 'warm up' match and then a 'real' match, and then do a home-and-away. Coeburn and Saint Paul don't play SB though, they place Wise County PACE. No results in from them as yet. BTW, Honaker has made some noise; they finished second at the Auburn tournament (losing to AA Cave Spring) and then sixth at the Cave Spring tournament out of seventeen teams. They were behind top-50 national teams like Russell KY and Maggie Walker, they and were ahead of Lebanon, Auburn, and EastMont. However, Rappahannock County and Parry McCluer got snowed out Saturday; it was really shaping up to be a nice Group A battle.
  4. Thanks again for letting me post on this site. Congrats to Lee County, they secured a spot in the Region D tournament. Meet 3 @ Virginia HS: VHSL Match #5: Lee 175, Lebanon 170 John Battle 155, Gate City 70 VHSL Match #6: Lee 210, John Battle 140 Lebanon 210, Gate City 110 Meet 4 @ Gate City HS: VHSL Match #7: Lee 220, Virginia 55 Lebanon 220, John Battle 80 VHSL Match #8: Lee 230, Lebanon 165 John Battle 145, Virginia 140 Lee County 8-0 (clinches spot at Region D tournament) Lebanon 4-2 John Battle 3-3 Virginia High 1-5 Gate City 0-6
  5. TCAC results this year (BTw, what happened to Pocy they were competitive in the first three meets then got swept in the last three meets.) Tazewell was very dominant and will surely make an impression in the VHSL tournament in January. English: Tazewell 4-2 Pocahontas 3-3 Graham 2-2-2 Richlands 1-3-2 Math: Graham 5-0-1 Tazewell 4-1-1 Pocahontas 1-5 Richlands 1-5 Science Tazewell 4-2 Richlands 4-2 Graham 3-3 Pocahontas 1-5 Social Studies Tazewell 5-1 Richlands 5-1 Pocahontas 1-5 Graham 1-5 All-Around Tazewell 5-1 Graham 4-2 Richlands 2-4 Pocahontas 1-5 Overall Tazewell 6-0 Graham 4-2 Pocahontas1-5 Richlands 1-5
  6. This is just one more argument for a 16-team playoff, as opposed to the 2-team playoff we already have. In any case, since Missouri's equivalent of the VHSL pays me to write their academic competition questions, all I'm going to say is M-I-Z-Z-O-U!
  7. I'd have an automatic in for any undefeated team. I'd also include the top two independent and non-BCS teams. That way if Boise State and Notre Dame have good years in the same year, one of them won't get screwed over. Also, the at-large bids should be open for anyone not just BCS conference teams. (Maybe I misread what GMan typed up.) A college football playoff would bring in massive amounts of $$$ akin to March Madness. I-AA/FCS players don't seem to be flunking out in massive numbers, so the academics argument is weak IMO. The existing Bowl games might protest as their prestige is necessarily lowered. While some of them would end up serving a function similar to the NIT, some of them would have to fall by the wayside. On the other hand, I suspect no one outside a few people in Charlotte will care in 15 years if say the Car Care Bowl got canceled.
  8. Go UConn! I get paid by schools in Virginia and Missouri for what I do, so anything that clears the way for Mizzou to make the title game is good by me.
  9. A loss by Kansas would place West Virginia in the 'coveted' #2 position. Interesting trivia: Missouri and Kansas are *tied* in their all-time rivalry, 53-53-9.
  10. Mizzou's chances got dinged by Oklahoma losing to Texas Tech. If Mizzou beat Kansas (#2) and Oklahoma (#3), then the computers and probably humans would've liked that better than beating UConn (#16) and Pitt (unranked). Of course if anyone at the start of the season could've guessed that Mizzou, Kansas, and West Virginia were all legit title contenders, they would've been laughed out of the room.
  11. Clinch Mountain Meet #2 VHSL Match #3: Lebanon 310 (not a typo), Gate City 20 Lee 220, Virginia 105 VHSL Match #4: Lebanon 285, Virginia 70 Lee 220, Gate City 95 Lee County 4-0 Lebanon 2-0 John Battle 1-1 Virginia High 1-3 Gate City 0-4
  12. [ QUOTE ] "The Showdown" in two weeks ought to be a full blown war. [/ QUOTE ] As far as I'm concerned, this is the most meaningful VT-UVA matchup ever. I think this is what Warner/Kaine wanted when they pushed for VT to get into the ACC and as a Virginian frankly it's what I want to see. Either way, the Commonwealth of Virginia will emerge the winner.
  13. The Clinch Mountain had their first meet on 10/29: Match #1: John Battle 155, Virginia High 100 Lee County 140, Gate City 50 Match #2 Lee County 140, John Battle 130 Virginia High 185, Gate City 45 I know there are TCAC meets, as well as Wise County PACE meets. Someone should put those scores up here.
  14. Job well done from the other side of the state (I live in Arlington.)
  15. My apologies. I had thought Grundy's relative downturn was due to their coach leaving; turns out I was wrong.
