  9. Dale Jr. on the pole for the Daytona 500.
  10. Great game just didnt know why Buster wanted them to stall the ball with 3 min left. You have to keep trying to score like you want to win every second. The rest of the week will be tough.
  11. Way to go Buster Large for not letting two stud athletes play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hate it for the seniors!!!!!!!!!!! Warriors breeze by Beavers Wyoming East victorious in home away from home By Dave Morrison Sports Editor The Register-Herald Tue Feb 01, 2011, 12:59 AM EST BECKLEY — As far as Bluefield coach Buster Large is concerned, Wyoming East may as well have been playing a home game. The Warriors have certainly had a lot of success when they play at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. And No. 2 Wyoming East (10-2) played like a team on its home court — despite sitting on the visitor sideline — as they took apart No. 9 Bluefield 77-49 Monday in a first round of the Big Atlantic Classic Class AA division contest. “Well, this is their place,†Large said. “They certainly played well here and we haven’t played well here in the last three games (dating back to the BAC two years ago.†It was the effort Wyoming coach Rory Chapman was hoping to see after the Warriors fell to Woodrow Wilson 76-53 Saturday. “We did a good job crashing the boards in the first half and getting out in our running game,†Chapman said. “And in the second half, we ran our half-court stuff and we pounded the ball inside.†It was as much of what the Warriors didn’t do as what they did. “We didn’t shoot a bucketload of threes,†Chapman said. “I told our guys we don’t need to fire up 25 threes. It’s not a high-percentage shot. Today we pounded it inside and didn’t take all those threes.†Indeed, Wyoming East took on 13 threes, making three. Inside was much more effective for the Warriors, where they were 24-of-40. Chase Morgan paced the Warriors with 18 points. A lot of that was done driving to the basket. Marcus Schofield added 14 points, all of it inside. And Luke Campbell added nine points, most of that on first quarter drives to the basket. “I thought Luke was probably our unsung hero tonight,†Chapman said. “He got several steals that led to assists in the first half and when we are getting that type of play, we’re going to be hard to beat.†Campbell had three driving baskets in the first quarter and that led to a 21-12 Wyoming East lead. It grew in the second quarter, as the Warriors continued the inside trend and Bluefield continually hurt itself by missing free throws. “We didn’t come to play,†Large said. “I thought our preparation was good but we didn’t come to play. We missed a bunch of free throws. We just weren’t in it.†It didn’t help that Kyle Harris was not suited up for the Beavers. “I’m sure that hurt them,†Chapman said. “He’s a good player.†The Warriors face the winner of today’s Poca-Oak Hill game in Saturday’s 2 p.m. title game and Bluefield will face the loser in the consolation matchup at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday. Wyoming East 77, Bluefield 49 Wyoming East (10-2) Luke Campbell 4 1-1 9, Marcus Schofield 5 4-6 14, Alex Webb 2 4-6 8, Chase Morgan 7 4-5 18, Andrew Bishop 2 2-2 6, Zack Whitten 1 2-2 5, Brett Bowling 0 0-0 0, Travis McKinney 2-4 3-4 9, Derek Thornton 0 0-0 0, Kyle Smith 0 0-0 0, Christian Hedinger 0 0-0 0, Taylor Smith 3 0-0 6, Brett Bowling 1 0-0 2. 12. Could be ugly for the Beavs the 4th and 5th week.
  13. I was just wondering because WE being #1 in AA, I thought they would play WW #7 AAA tougher. If WW is that good AAA teams better look out becasue WE is good year in and year out.
  14. Man after seeing this is AA Basketball down that much in WV.
  15. Nothing against the other kids but it would help with 2 other good athletes. Gut check time for sure the rest of the week. Buster had started "coaching" again. FUNNY FUNNY
  16. Loss to Pikeview proves that we need the 2 good athletes that is not playing B-Ball this year. Wished we had them really looks like a bad season again for the Beavs without them.
  17. Hate it for the program, it was just getting turned around. Wonder if the QB will go with him? He came with him.
  18. Beavers rule I agree both are good kids from what I have seen and heard. As far as helping the team, nothing against the other players but these 2 kids on the team would have to help 100%. Well hopefully they will be able to join and the Beavs make a run! The area needs it from a basketball team.
  19. Is Williams and Steptoe playing yet? I heard they might be in Jan. If Bluefields coach dont let these two guys on the team he is crazy. Does he want to win or not?
  20. I second the motion on Stewarts retirement. Listen to the game Ravenswood just could not get it going. Congrats to Magnolia still would have loved to see the Beavs play them.
  21. Good luck to all the teams!!!!!
  22. Pretty cool just hope they keep the tickets at a reasonable price so a man can take his family.
