Just went to the game to see good football, just like ill watch pats vs jets even though im not a fan of either just want to see a good game. Congrats to tigers and to the rebels and I guess the rebels can get back to work on making a run at basketball and honaker lives to fight another day and i think they have a real good chance of beating jib.

Noones talking about the late hit that wasnt called on coopers big run where the got the block in the back penalty, cooper was 3 yards out of bounds when he was hit and that shouldve been off setting. The punt wasnt touched and shouldve been a penalty and another issue was the scorekeeper continued to let the clock run because with 3 minutes to go they ran 2 plays for about 3 yards and was able to run close to 2 minutes off the clock. Last time i checked it doesnt take long to run a dive up the middle and the ref to get the ball set.So someone please explain to me why the ref set the ball and waited about 15 to 20 seconds before allowing the play clock to run. I was hoping for the upset, but wasnt really that worried about the outcome either way just hoping the bdd is successful but the more I watched the more frustrated I got about the way the game went and dissappointed to see the officials play that big of a role in the outcome of a game. But for what its worth great game by both teams and the hot dogs were very good.

I'm kinda enjoying all the talk back in fourth about a Honaker/Hurley match-up and in my opinion i think that Hurley has more play makers on offense but Honaker has a better line on both sides of the ball. And as of late I'm not sure Waynick is the wr to key on considering how #25 Charles has been playing. I also feel that the passing attack is key and I'm not sure that Honaker can stop them from doing that because if you give cooper time he will tear you apart. And once he gets rolling the run game starts to become more of a factor and then your in a shootout of who has the ball last. So I think the game will be a close on and I think it will be a shootout to the finish. Hurley 33 Honaker 28

tirhjojo since you are so jealous you cant stand it or you are just oblivious to the fact that the big 3 are very talented. You have hated on them on several messages and I cant figure out why you do it. You threw off on the banner for tyler and now this and I think that you are forgetting that tyler has scored his 1000 and make break scoring record and that is after missing several games due to injury/sickness and sitting out due to an altercation last year. And austin played point for several years and anyone who has to be the all-time ball handler for a team will def. have a more difficult time in points category, and waynick as a fresh and soph was a 6'4 165 kid who couldnt move a stick but hes worked hard to develop his strength and his post moves so you also forget when they are young they are still kids they had a lot of growing pains. The teams that you say are weak and not very talented, hurley has played them and normally beaten them, and you must also understand that Mark wont leave them in to run the score up high like some. He will pull every starter he has if he gets a lead no matter if one of the kids have a chance for a record breaking game and I know because I watched him pull his own son when he was close to the mens single game record. And I respect him more for doing it because if you want the record you are going to have to earn against and equal caliber opponent.

Well I don't even know what got this started but if we are resulting in a measuring contest I think the convo should go straight to topix. This is a message board for sports not about whose job is more difficult or who can drink the most before vomiting because I could care less and when did we start using age as a means of authority on a message board if that is the case this would be a lot less interesting place. Back to the subject at hand, if he wants to play Friday its his choice and i wouldn't blame him at all if he sit out to rest the injury because the whiplash, bruised ribs and a strained muscle can make you pretty sore and stiff for awhile. So if hes not 100% and feels he cant completely protect himself I wouldn't play because even though they have region in football to worry about, he also has a long basketball season to think about as well. You are correct about him not playing football at E&H or Wise because he has an offer to play qb at William & Mary. To my understanding he is much more worried about basketball offers for college though, but wise and emory wont get him for football but he may decide to play basketball at one of the two but who knows at the moment.

Jealous, stupid, ignorant, or plain dumb which ever you prefer to call it would be accurate. We all know waynick is a tremendous player as well as Austin Cooper and Austin is probably the better all around player than both of them. But if you think it has something to do with his dad being the coach you are just plain crazy. So I guess since coopers dad is the coach thats the reason he received all these awards, and if that is the case Mark must have a lot of pull with all the coaches in the state considering the state POY, First Team State, and correct me if I am wrong but Second Team All-All State Team. But we all understand that certain people like the way a certain player plays and all that, but to say that waynick is the outright best is something that I cant agree with at the time. But I do think he has the potential to be, but in my personal opinion tyler deserved the award and I honestly think his brother is the best player on the team because he does anything that his father asks of him. So when peck struggles he plays point and when waynick gets in foul trouble he plays big man and everything else in between. So I guess since marks still the coach they should hang a banner up for austin winning state poy this year. And tirhjojo until you have something that is the slightest bit intelligent you need to just keep your mouth shut.

Well sportsguy its hard for me to see how you say cooper had a bad game considering that he would take a snap and after one step he had 1,2 and sometimes 3 defenders already in his face. If you noticed when the rebels let him get passes off he did a very good job but there where very few that he could get off due to the pressure. And I also forgot to add in my previous post that I would like to say congrats to Grundy on a hard fought victory. I would also like to say that waynick played pretty well too and bergelowe also was a victim of hurleys o-line, there where several occasions where there tackles never even layed a finger on the ends; And would anyone tell me why the QB cant throw the ball away now? Because I noticed once on the grundy sideline cooper threw it out of bounds and he wouldve been way out of a tackle box if that is a rule, but he was called for intentional grounding

from what i understand greg calls the plays and he does a terrible job and it was obvious to everyone there they played off waynick and stacked the box. So he decides to slide waynick to TE to block, but the only problem with that is that that brought more in the box. And greg has a good record cuz he has some good talent and the other teams in the district have been way down Cooper is one of the best qbs thats been around in a while but has no oline to block dustin is a real good wr but we cant get a pass to him. Shotgun may help just sayin it couldve been an option no matter how bad the center snaps at least hurley may have got a pass off. And also greg let his offense run 3min off the clock in the 4th down by 10 and never got a first down.

Lance, everyone on here talks good about their team no matter who they play you talked how grundy would win last week and got beat down and hurley fans have done nothing but the same this week and so have you. My point is no matter who you play you will talk up your team as much as possible and that gets elevated in rivalries. So you talk smack, ill talk smack and so will everyone else its a message board what are we expecting if not that. But thats beside the point, I think this will be a close one and i personally believe that the rebels are a better team, but the wave still have a mental advantage just due to the fact that there was hype last year about a close one and the rebels where beat down on there home turf. But I do believe the wave lost too much talent from lasts year team to win unless the rebels have a lot of turnovers. Cooper will be the key because as much as most grundy fans dislike the coopers, right now the football program dislikes bergelowe more. So I expect the box to be stacked and they will force the rebels to throw the ball, and I notice everyone talking about waynick being a threat but i think one of hurleys favorite targets in this game will be the gibson kid dont remember the number but oquin is on waynick which is a good matchup but that puts a weak defender on gibson and watching this kid i think the rebels should have high expectations for him.

Any predictions for who will win player of the year in the bdd?

Hurley did not play there best, but they gave it their all and still had a chance with 3 minutes left. So even if the rebels didnt play their best there is still no reason to let poor calls decide the outcome, because even if the rebels came out and couldnt miss the refs left them with no chance no matter what they did. So yes they may have got outplayed but they still had a chance to win and the refs were terrible no questions about austin got mugged twice on one play and nothing then tyler runs by a player with no contact at all and they call him for a foul. Basically when hurley got close within the last 4 or 5 minutes it was a foul no matter if they even touched them at all. So overall rebels be proud and learn from it but the refs tonight should not be allowed to do a tourny of this magnitude due to their poor, no pitiful performance tonight. i dont think im the one who needs to find out what they are talking about because if you have seen or know anything about either of these teams you would know they both are great shooting teams and attack the basket very well. But a 2-3 and letting them shoot on you is a mistake because you will be having a disappointing trip home from Va. High. And I do think the Rebels are talented enough to win and I beleive they are a better team than any of the 4. I just dont think twin springs can matchup with galax very well. But I could be wrong I guess we will find out sat. And the first overall pick being austin, I would agree with that because he plays the point when the rebels need him, he knocks down big shots when they need him, he rebounds when they need him and he can be a nasty big guy on the block when they need him. He is a matchup disaster for any team the rebels face, but the rebels need his brothers great scoring ability to take the pressure off of him and waynick.

Galax vs Twin Springs Ill take Galax over springs, simply because they are more talented and springs wont be able to match their speed on D. The only chance I believe Twin Springs will have is if they bring the same officials with them from the Region D championship game. Hurley vs EastMont I believe this game will come down to the how healthy the Rebels are by Saturday, because Tyler Cooper has been plagued with injuries for the past few weeks and he helps the Rebels get their game going. Without him the rebels may be in trouble because Austin and Waynick will be seeing double team after double team. EastMont is very talented and very experienced so they know how to win big games and control a lead. But I'm taking the Rebels to advance to Richmond because Tyler finished the Twin Springs game with a tough injury and nothing will stop him from doing it again. When A. Cooper and Waynick get clicking they are by far two of the most athletic big men you will find. So Good Luck Rebels, and all of Southwest Virginia wish you well. Get Ready, because its going to be a close one.

Agreed Lance, The rebels played with all heart because the officials werent going to give them a break at all. Im not from hurley but glad to see them pull this one off and represent the bdd well. Also would like to say that some of the fans from twin springs need to represent themselves better than booing a player after the game and trying to hold up your logo in their region championship photo. Yes the player from hurley might have celebrated with a little much emotion but he is still a young man not an adult. So next you suffer defeat a little more class would go a long way and I know that it doesnt represent all of the twin spring fans. But hurley keep your heads up because you beat a good team and a group of officials for the entire game and took it in stride like a champion should. Good Luck the rest of the way!
