BarraBrava99 12 Report Share Posted February 24, 2005 sure there are only four teams right now, but with the competetive level of the teams who might think that we have something special here in the SWD, the most competetive/entertaining to watch district in Virginia? dawgs86 10 Report Share Posted February 24, 2005 I say the Highlands District is the most competitive because the winner is never announced until the last game like last year or like the year before when it had to go into a championship game just to have the regular season champion.. BarraBrava99 12 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2005 oh well. i just thought we had such great competetition here in SWD. graham and carroll games are usually VERY heated with the match being decided by only a goal (usually. there is the occasion where a larger margin may happen). tazewell and richlands are closing the gap with better and better teams each year. so what teams are in the highlands district? legend11 32 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 Well, uh, there are districts in the state that have Blacksburg, Cave Springs, Chancellor, Charlottesville, and so on and so forth. Soccer Camp at UVA this summer was full of them and they were freakin' awesome. Soccer in those parts of the state are so much more competitive, they play year around. The Districts that they come out of are the RRD (River Ridge District) and the BRD (Blue Ridge District). These are the power houses of the State. Along with them are Broad Run, Courtland, King George, Spotsylvania, just to name another couple of schools. These are the teams that should be winning their district/region/state, but because of their district, they are held down. the Battlefield District is where these teams come from. BarraBrava99 12 Author Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 you've got me there. definitely quality teams through and through, no doubt. still, though, i can't wait for the day that a SWD team brings home a state trophy. it's only a matter of time. AtrnyGnrl05 11 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 AC Milan has got it down. The other districts have definately built some very worthy dynasties, but Graham is the SWD's only chance! They've actually PLAYED Blacksburg, which is much farther than anyone else, and they are the consistent dictators of the SWD. Their state quarterfinal run last year was something to be proud of and I hope they go farther this year.
Dangdug 10 Report Share Posted February 25, 2005 Unfortunately you are right Attourney general. I think that Carroll county had some very talented players last year though. But Graham did make it to be the number 8 team in the state, which comming from region IV says alot, or it just about says that the number 7 and 8 teams come from region IV. But real teams come from regions 1-3, those guys know how to play soccer because they have played for club teams, and it's unfair for graham and carroll county that the southwest district is the place to start out becuase there is no immitation of real soccer being played there, then suddenly once the playoffs start, soccer isn't played SWD style, which is a very good thing and a very bad thing.
