Posted: Saturday, Jun 18, 2005 - 10:01:25 pm EDT Staff report KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The Bluefield Blazers ripped through the opening two games in the Athletes for Better Education youth basketball tournament on Saturday at Kutztown State University. The Blazers, sponsored by the Bluefield Housing Authority, beat the Pennsylvania Jaguars 79-31 in their first game. Among Bluefield's leading scorers were Ansel Ponder with 13 points, Dexter Moore (11) and Maurice Jordon (12). The second contest, against the C.C. Knights, ended 56-49 in Bluefield's favor. Mark Page scored 11 points and Tremayne Matthews added 10 for the Blazers. Jevon Carpenter grabbed five steals and chipped in six points. At 10 a.m. Sunday, the Blazers are scheduled to play a team with the name Christlike.
