mavsgrad 28 Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 I was wondering if VA high school football is the same as WV in the sense that WV has a single A, double A, and triple A champion of the entire state. I was under the impression that a team like Giles for instance does not play for a state championship but rather is single A champion of their region. Would appreciate some clarification. rhsfan88 22 Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 There is two state champions for each group. Two A state champions, two AA state champions and so forth. Each group is split down the middle by enrollment numbers. So in a sense you have small A and big A and so forth. A team like Giles can play would play someone from the other side of the state in the championship game.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted December 21, 2005 Virginia is divided into classifications of AAA, AA, and A just like WV. However, for football only they also divide each classification into two divisions, which are based on enrollment numbers. So they crown six state football champions. A Division 1 Division 2 AA Division 3 Division 4 AAA Division 5 Division
rebel3 17 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 Why don't they play the two division champions agianst each other? It would only take one more week and it would make the state championship much more prestigious.
lee 10 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 yes it would i guess they figure that since va could be a 5 a state it would be too hard to say only 3 state champions or becasue of basektball.
