EH31 2,523 Report Share Posted June 19, 2006 http://virginiapreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=552973 Another quarterback that deserves closer attention and further evaluation is Richland's standout Justin McCracken. Coach Greg Mance raves about his rising senior signal caller (see quotes below), and McCracken has certainly proven that he knows how to lead a team (only loss last season came in state finals) and that he is a 'winner'. Every team needs a leader at quarterback. For us, that would be McCracken. The Richlands' junior, who was a long snapper last season and continued those chores this year, had a stellar campaign, setting a school record for passing yards in a season (1,714 yards) and throwing for 21 touchdowns. Read on for his profile and comments from Coach Mance! Justin McCracken Class of 2007 Richlands High School Position (s): Quarterback / Long Snapper Height: 6-foot-3 Weight: 190 2005 Season Accomplishments / Accolades: Passing Stats: 126, completions 1,701 yards, 26 touchdowns Rushed for 856 yards, 14 touchdowns Broke school season records for completions, touchdowns, passing yards and total yards 1st Team All-Southwest District, 1st Team All-Region (IV), 2nd Team All-State McCracken's coach, Greg Mance (pictured - left), raves about his rising senior signal caller: "Justin McCracken is the most prolific passer to ever play quarterback at Richlands High School. Justin possesses a rifle arm and the ability to throw the touch pass." Coach Mance added: "Justin has a tremendous work ethic on and off the field. He is a student of the game often taking home tape to study the opponent. His dedication to the weight room is unsurpassed. He can bench over 300 pounds and squats 375. He can power clean 225 pounds. Justin has only missed four sessions of weightlifting over the past three years." Justin (right) has been playing for the Richlands varsity squad since his freshman year, and has earned the School's prestigious "Blue Tornado Award" as a freshman, sophomore and junior. The award is for both athletic and academic achievements. Coach Mance told VirginiaPreps.com "There is no doubt that Justin can play quarterback at the Division 1 level. His size, strength, and athletic ability were comparable to the top QBs at the Nike Combine last year. He is truly the best quarterback that I have coached in my eighteen years at Richlands High School".
