I had this discussion earlier with a friend and was wondering the answer How long has F S been at Bluefield? How long has T S been at Princeton? Sources 10 Report Share Posted July 31, 2007 Simon has been head coach since 1985 I believe. It was around that time though.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted July 31, 2007 [ QUOTE ] Simon has been head coach since 1985 I believe. It was around that time though. [/ QUOTE ] Simon took over at Bluefield in 1986. Chmara coached one more year, 1985, following his final state title in 1984. As for Spardo I'm not exactly sure, but I believe he has been at Princeton since about 1989 or 1990... [/ QUOTE ] As far as WV, if you go back to the days at Mullens, I know Kevin Grogg's been there a while, maybe someone knows for sure. In this area in VA, I think Steve Ragsdale's been at Giles since 1978.
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted August 1, 2007 Spadaro started in 1989. Simon debuted in 1987 (when Chmara defected to Va.), along with David "Scotty" Cuthbert at Independence. Yogi started at Matewan in 1986. I don't know about Kevin Grogg's tenure, but Glen McNew still headed Mullins in 1984, and he was the Rebels wrestling coach in 85-86. (Was '86 his Morgantown debut?) Mitchell Estep has been over at Iaeger since 1980. (Drum roll... Please!) Larry McClintic replaced Wallace Jones at Meadow Bridge in 1969 - this will be his 39th season. The longest-tenured guy in SW VA (if you believe the saying that it starts at Roanoke) WAS Rocket Boy Jim Hickam, until Northside canned him last year after 32 seasons at the helm (1974-2005). Now, Rags is 2nd to Blacksburg's Dave Crist, who started in '75.
OU81 10 Report Share Posted August 2, 2007 Coach Simon's first season as head coach was in '86. He was an assistant on the '83, '84, an '85 teams.
