NORFOLK, Va. -- Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick has pleaded guilty to drunken driving and other charges.

Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Amanda Howie says Vick also was convicted Monday of eluding police and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The 24-year-old brother of former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was arrested in June after fleeing from a bicycle patrol officer who saw him and a woman involved in a dispute. Vick was stopped minutes later.

A judge suspended a 12-month jail sentence on the DUI charge, but Vick must pay $530 in fines and lose his license for a year.

Vick was dropped from the Virginia Tech team in 2006 after a series of problems. The Miami Dolphins released him a year later.

BREAKING NEWS!!

Papers filed in Surry County (Va.) Circuit Court indicate former NFL quarterback Michael Vick will enter a guilty plea next week to state dogfighting charges.

Surry County Circuit Court administrator Sally Neblett said Tuesday that a hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 30 on a motion to hear a plea from Vick by video conference.

The story was first reported by The Virginian-Pilot.

Vick, currently incarcerated at a federal prison in Leavenworth, Kan., is serving a two-year sentence for his involvement in a dogfighting ring. The Virginian-Pilot reported that Vick is planning on pleading guilty to the state charges with the hopes of winning early release from Leavenworth.

According to the newspaper, which cited court papers, Vick then would be able to move to a halfway house.

Vick is scheduled to be released from prison on July 20; any chance of moving to a halfway house would not occur before Jan. 20.

Hell of a week for those Vick boys.

WOW....His brother and him are worse than the WVU duo (Pacman and Henry)

He's on par with Jones and Henry. All three are fools that cannot get a clue and stay out of trouble. Jones should be barred from the NFL for good. Goodell must have a 10-strike policy...
