Abingdon at Carroll

This should give you a good idea of how things will go in the SWD. Carroll is just starting to put things together and I look for them to fight hard in this one. A win would be a big lift to them at this point. However, I don't think a loss will be the end of the world for them as they continue to grow as a team.

JV - This could be a preview of a playoff game. The Carroll JV's are capable of playing with anyone if they get their minds in the game and don't coast to soon. Abingdon is a perennial player in the JV district championship, so they will be a measuring stick for Carroll. Guard play and turnovers will be key in this match up. Carroll can not afford the silly turnovers that have plagued them early this year.

As usual, I'll post the results.

Boys I hate to say it but if that Viers kid for Abingdon plays like he has the last three games were in for a shootout...he hasn't missed a shot yet.. And that big ole Manning kid they got holdin' down the lane is flat foot dunkin' over half the competition!

Well boys, the Vanilla Gorilla was havin' a feast eatin' up those boards. Viers hurt his elbow early in and decided to take it easy for the rest of the game. Luckily Team Dagger has each others backs.. The janitors gonna have a rough time replacing all the lights after another Dagg iced out 29 points. Miyagi continued to be a defensive threat with his crisp closeouts in the 4th.. All in all it was the beginning of a dominant district run for Team Dagger.. Scores speak louder than trash talk boys..84-52... Semper Fi...

Carroll JV got in foul trouble early with the post players and the big 6-4 kid from Abingdon made Carroll pay. That and Carroll's shooting guard had a whopping 3 points. Abingdon is well coached and simply out played Carroll.

Varsity looked like it was going to be a game. Carroll was up 17-16 at the end of the first quarter. Abingdon's depth took over and they showed that they had just too may athletes for Carroll's thin bench to handle.

It was a VERY physical game and 39 fouls were called in the second half alone... the refs stayed busy and Abingdon shot great from the foul line. Also, whoever has to guard that number 24 from Abingdon for the rest of the year better learn to get a hand in his face... he shot lights out. That kid makes "Jimmy" from Hoosiers look like grade schooler.

Not if you run a box & 1 on him like Va High did last week. They shut him down and went on to win the game against a more talented Abingdon team. Va High's coach has been very impressive so far.

He's not even the best player on Abingdon's team...the kid can shoot, yes but he cant make his own shot and plays no defense...
