Floyd County wins 63-41. Lee High will take on Floyd County in the semis.

Floyd County 63, Honaker 41

Four Floyd County players scored in double figures and the Buffaloes forced 31 turnovers in an impressive, 63-41, win over Honaker in the Group A, Division 2 quarterfinals Saturday at Virginia High School.

Foul trouble and Honaker's defense held Brittany Avancini, the 2008 Group A Player of the Year, to two points in the first half. Carmen Bolt, Brittany Bourne and Brandy Phillips picked up the slack for the Buffaloes' leading scorer.

Threes from Bourne and Phillips keyed a 10-2 run as Floyd County (25-3) took a 24-18 halftime lead. Phillips canned three consecutive shots and Emily Thompson drained a 3-pointer in a 9-0 run that extended the Floyd advantage to 35-21 by the 3:52 mark of the third quarter.

the majority of QF winners were region runner ups.. thats not common..

It can be said that Region C dominated Region D this year winning 6 out of 8 quarterfinal match-ups. The only Region D teams to win were runner-ups.
