vthokies4life 10 Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 How many times have we started a thread with that title? Well, they're at it again. A transformer blew yesterday at 11ish a.m. and I'm without electricity until "at least late this afternoon". And I'm pissed. Sorry. Just had to blow a little steam. AEP will use this as a excuse to raise your rates.LOL.

Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 That's one good thing about PPL. They're efficient, and stuff like that seldom happens. Well, unless you're in the historic district of Carlisle. Then, all too often.
bhs7695 185 Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 Another reason to rasie rates is out of the 21 plants in the AEP system, only six are generating power right now. That's right SIX! That's how deep the recession is right now with all the jobs lost and factories closing or reducing production.
claytoreer 10 Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 AEP does not serve a large part of Blacksburg, it is served by the univ. itself. There are also many reaSONS FOR A SUSTAINED OUTAGE. iF THIS WAS A TRANSFORMER WITHIN A SUBSTATION, REPLAVEMENTS ARE NOT ALWAYS AVAILABLE IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. tHESE THINGS, TRANSFORMERS, ARE REALLY LONG LIFE PIECES OF EQUIP. AND MOST LAST MANY YEARS. sORRY FOR YOUR INCONVENIENCE THOUGH.
Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted April 28, 2009 I know we all complain about AEP, but I have a good friend and hunting buddy who works there, and it always seems like there is a logical reason for why we get upset, such as why the rates go up. Although im not an expert in the energy business. That being said, Im off to take a cold shower. Wish me luck.
