VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted January 3, 2010 Grundy's back in the American Div. (which they won 2 years ago) as the #1 seed. We open w/ Hermitage (Richmond) Fri. @ 5; a win puts us back on the mat at 9 p.m. http://www.virginiaduals.org/2010americanhs.pdf The #2 seed is St. Christopher's, a private school from Richmond that made the semis in their debut last year. http://stchriswrestling.com/ C'burg's seeded 4th in the National Div. and COULD face St. Mark's in the semis. They open with last year's American Div. champs, Canon-Millan (PA), Fri. @ 9 & could meet (12 seed) Fauquier @ 1. http://www.virginiaduals.org/2010nationalhs.pdf The college brackets aren't out yet. VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 9, 2010 Grundy 37, Kempsville 28 Austin Compton lost 8-0 @ 103, Sean had a pin, Jeremy had a bye, Justin & Dakota had decisions, Jon Dot & Ethan had pins, Cody picked up a major, Channing got pinned @ 152, making it 34-10, and Dale was a little nervous because they're stacked in the upper weights. At 160, Tyler & Veyrodt were tied w/ :60 left. Tyler took a shot, got headlocked, locked his hands, rolled through his back to the top and got 2 PLUS 2, and hung on to win 6-4, putting us in the finals. Tanner lost a dec., McCowen got pinned, Lowe lost 1-0 & Dalton got pinned. We'll face the Haddonfield - St. Christopher`s winner in the finals at 8:

VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 It'll be a while before they finish ... finals didn't start until 8:30 and most matches will go the full 6:00. Only 4 matches in the books after 35 minutes & we're up 15-0.

poptop23 10 Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 I read on the.. well i dont know its like the virginia wrestling site, under some forums (i dont know because i hardly get on there someone was just showing me) that some c-burg kids got in some trouble? apparently they got kicked off the team, but its hard to tell how true that is. if so, might be good for grundy later in the season. the link in case anyone else wants to read it. http://www.virginiawrestling.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6831&sid=0b32516bfde82833a084237bfeda0fc9

VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 I laughed when I saw that the other day... typical Duals stuff. They were a pain years ago I tried to find some stuff out at work. They don't update their website while the tourney is happening. They can get on a forum and promote their event, but they won't answer questions. (Although, honestly, I think that q. had already been answered and they didn't want to admit it.)
Lance 228 Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 How do you think Grundy would have done over in the National Div. this year?
VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 I'm not a wrestling guy anymore; all I really do now is state prep. Last time I looked at Duals teams was when Testa was St. Mark's HWT ... which was, what, 99? Unless it's the Agie, I don't even go to the matches anymore unless I'm filling in for Lloyd. I MIGHT catch the Cburg match, depending on the wx. Otherwise, I won't see 'em in person until tourney time.
VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 11, 2010 the National Division championship came down to the last match. St. Mark's led Nazareth by a point, then got a pin from their HWT to win 37-29.
