tbgfan 856 Author Report Share Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) Does Abingdon just not have a lot of arms?I mean, they've given up some ridiculous run totals lately... My observations from being an impartial listener to their games~~ The Falcons do not have the depth at the pitching position they have had in previous years--their two starting pitchers have pitched well, but as we know, you can have off-days when pitching. Wow no longer an undefeated district record. Did Marion play that well or Abingdon that bad? Marion played a great game on both sides of the ball. They were really seeing the ball well, patient at the plate, waiting for strikes, not swinging at bad pitches. Only, one error on defense. I would say their best game this year. Don't know much about Thomas' record as a pitcher, but he really did a good job for the Canes yesterday. This is no reflection on the reliever, Funk, but if Thomas had stayed in as the pitcher, the Falcons may not have rallied and went ahead in the 7th. Of course Funk, had a perfect day at the plate--5 for 5, with two doubles and three RBI's. The games between these schools, whatever the sport, has developed into a fierce rivalry and records seem to become inconsequential then. Believe this was the case here. The Falcons don't seem to be playing with the same intensity, as at the first of the season, and when you are the leader of the pack, you have to be prepared to bring your "A" game, everytime. Last night's district loss, may be the wakeup call they need to get the intensity back.
