CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Greenbrier has announced a long list of celebrities who will be on hand for the grand opening of the resort's new $80 million underground casino July 2.

Owner Jim Justice said the list includes Charleston native and actress Jennifer Garner and her husband actor Ben Affleck.

But the list of entertainers and sports figures also includes: actress and West Virginian Ann Magnuson, famed interior designer Carleton Varney, Greenbrier Golf Professional Emeritus Tom Watson, golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino, actresses Jessica Simpson, Jane Seymour, Debbie Reynolds, Phyllis George, Raquel Welch, Brooke Shields, Christina Ebersole, actor Elliot Gould, boxing announcer Michael Buffer and basketball star Shaquille O'Neal.

Justice said more celebrities will be added to that list.

Justice said, "With the launch of the Casino Club and The Greenbrier Classic, which starts on July 26, we have a very exciting month planned, and the world will certainly know that we are back and better than ever."

Entertainer Lionel Ritchie will lead off the grand opening festivities with an intimate concert. A red-carpet entrance for guests, a ribbon cutting ceremony preceded by a trumpet fanfare and black dinner are included.

Reservations for the opening night only event are $850 per person, which includes $300 in game vouchers. Accommodations packages at $1,200 per person are sold out, but reservations can be made at The Resort at Glade Springs and transportation to The Greenbrier will be provided.

The Casino Club at The Greenbrier will be an elegant 102,00 square foot gaming venue with ornate decor by Carlton Varney. Roulette, black jack, baccarat, craps, three-card poker and Texas hold 'em will be available for resort guests and members.

The casino will also have 320 slot machines, including retrofitted silver dollar machines. The Greenbrier Royale, a private high limit room, will be available for those who wish to raise the stakes.

A champagne toast will take place each night at 10 p.m., followed by "The Greenbrier Waltz" on the grand marble staircase, an original musical composition by Greenbrier County native Tony Nalker.

Two restaurants, In-Fusion and Twelve Oaks, will be adjacent to the casino. The mezzanine level, known as Greenbrier Avenue, will have boutiques, Draper's restaurant and Cafe Carlton, a coffee shop.

Justice said, "Since purchasing The Greenbrier last year, I have made a commitment to our guests, employees and every West Virginian that we would increase The Greenbrier's world class appeal without losing out sense of history and tradition.

"The grand opening of the Casino Club will be really spectacular and the tremendous interest among celebrities and long time guests validates my belief that The Greenbrier will continue to be an elite travel destination for a long time."

On June 10, daily direct flights from New York LaGuardia and Atlanta Hartsfield on Delta Airlines began. Last week, The Greenbrier announced a partnership with Keeneland, one of the world's most prestigious Thoroughbred racetracks and auction company.

850 a person? Wow, I'm quite the gambler but I believe i'll sit this one out....Love me some blackjack on the casino boats in Myrtle Beach tho coming up in a few weeks

For $850 you can rub "elbows" with Jessica Simpson! haha You just don't want her speak about anything. She will be shocked to learn that West Virginia is in fact a state I bet.

I'll make a trip there after many of the opening crowds die down.

But I'm VERY glad to see the Greenbrier have this prepared. Good, star-studded cast.

Is it a private casino? Or will they eventually let anyone come in and play without charging to get in?

From what I have heard they got approval for casino gambling by agreeing to a provision in the law that you must be a guest at the Greenbrier in order to gamble at the casino. Which mean most of us won't be able go very often.

From what I've been told, you must be a guest at The Greenbrier Hotel or be a member of The Greenbrier Sporting Club to enjoy the casino...

For the "Average Joe", it will be cheaper to fly to Vegas...

That's disapointing but I guess it's understandable considering it's "The Greenbrier"...I actually passed up an opportunity to play their golf course this Friday for a charity event with my boss from work. I just don't feel like my golf game deserves to step on a course of that magnitude...Well actually I just don't want to look like a fool with my golf game compared to others that are playing lol

I think I might just take a trip to the dog tracks in Charleston....Atlantic City would be fun, but would most likely put a heavy strain on my wallet

I have not been to Tri-State in several years, but I would like to see it now that they installed tables with dealers.
