cavdaddy 25 Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 How many wins would Holston need this year to make the playoffs under the new system? Frankly I hate the new system because it really hurts small schools like Holston, Bath Co, Rural Retreat etc.
deuceswild 15 Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 With 16 teams getting in, small schools like Holston, Bath County, and Rural Retreat have nothing to complain about. 3 wins should get you in.

Counts 156 Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 How many wins would Holston need this year to make the playoffs under the new system? Frankly I hate the new system because it really hurts small schools like Holston, Bath Co, Rural Retreat etc. How does it hurt small teams? No longer will a team from the west side of the state have to face a school will 600+ kids for a state championship......Add to that with 16 teams makeing the playoffs 4 wins all but garentees you a spot at the table and 3 wins will most likly get you in......If you want to complain that the 1st round will be a blowout 90% of the time that is valid however not sure how it hurts anyone other than the Basketball coachs LOL

This system helps the smaller schools like Holston more than the old one ever did. No more Buffalo Gap or similar size schools in D1 does nothing but help the smaller schools. redtiger 1,746 Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 Fewer big schools, more playoff seeds, nothing but good for Virginia's small schools
UNIONFAN 10 Report Share Posted September 13, 2011 The new system will have its bugs to be worked out but all in all its alot better than before. teams like JIB and clintwood with less than 350 students were playen buffalo gap (now d2) and teams of similar size for state games. This new system will unfortunatly allow for some blowout 1st rounds like mentioned because you will 3 and 4 win teams facing 9 and 10 win teams first round. All in all though itll help teams like castlewood, holston, bland and so forth
face-n-dacrowd 23 Report Share Posted September 14, 2011 I think it evens up the playing field. Give more teams a chance to experience playoffs.
