Lance 228 Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 Grundy did pretty well considering...beat 2 AAA schools and were close on the others. Not a bad showing. The powerhouse days of the late 80's - 90's are gone...but still a scrappy bunch. Ocean Lakes - AAA 2400+ kids Fauquier - AAA Grassfield - AAA 2500+ kids Haddonfield (NJ) - AA
gwave0333 69 Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 If they dont have the three forf they have an even better showing. In a dual tourny of that caliber its hard to start the match down 18 if the other team has a full lineup. All in all a very good showing! VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) We were lucky to beat top-seeded Fauquier, which is ranked #1 in Reg. II, ahead of Millbrook. They had 2 kids ranked in the top 2 in the Region that didn't wrestle, which led to a 36-33 loss to Millbrook in the 2nd round. They also bumped up abot half the guys after their 113 backup took our FFT. Also, OL beat the #2 seed in their 2nd match and went on to win the Division. 4th-seed Haddonfield's next match was a loss to Great Bridge, which finished 3rd. GB lost to OL in round 3. deuceswild 15 Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 The powerhouse days of the late 80's - 90's are gone...but still a scrappy bunch. Are they not the overwhelming favorites to win Group-A for the next 13 years?
Lance 228 Report Share Posted January 15, 2012 Are they not the overwhelming favorites to win Group-A for the next 13 years? a long way from that actually. Competition at A level is pretty good on the other side of the state.
JER 10 Report Share Posted January 20, 2012 Are the 3 forfeits for injuries or does Grundy have no one at those weights?
VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted January 20, 2012 we're only missing a 13. Don't know why we were missing at the other 2.

Lance 228 Report Share Posted January 20, 2012 side note...wonder where Cburg will fall if the VHSL goes to the 6A plan? Grundy is going back up to AA so this might be interesting to see how it shakes things up in wrestling under the new alignment.
techfan 43 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 side note...wonder where Cburg will fall if the VHSL goes to the 6A plan? Grundy is going back up to AA so this might be interesting to see how it shakes things up in wrestling under the new alignment. The list I saw which would put equal number it teams in all 6 classes said that Cburg would be in AAA. But I heard their was some talk about sports like wrestling having only 2 state tourneys A-AAA together and 4A-6A together

But I heard their was some talk about sports like wrestling having only 2 state tourneys A-AAA together and 4A-6A together thats not very fair to the smaller A schools to have to play AAA for state every year....hope that is not the case. I could maybe see breaking it down to 3 groups A-AA, AAA-4A, 5A-6A...but I think to make the smallest schools in the state go up against AAA schools would be pretty crappy.
