UNIONFAN 10 Report Share Posted February 4, 2012 I know that TN has a spring football season but VA dont. Is this because its against VHSL rules or because no coach around here does it?
hawk 10 Report Share Posted February 4, 2012 I believe that a new ruling was passed last year by the VHSL, a team may have some type of practices for any sport all year long with the exception of the first week of July. Please do not quote me on this, I do not know all the details.
UNIONFAN 10 Author Report Share Posted February 4, 2012 Id love to see that happen. The teams around here would really benifit from some spring ball
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted February 4, 2012 depends. VHSL passed changed their rule last year to allow virtual year-round practice of any sport (except on Sundays and the 1st 10 days of the other 2 seasons, plus the natoinal 10 Summer days). Each Region then could add more restrictions. As for "pure" fb practice... won't see it... too many small schools. If they fb guys were tied up, some baseball teams wouldn't exist. And track/field is better, too.
tjhokies 47 Report Share Posted February 4, 2012 Yes. They can practice Football all spring, but NO Pads.
dukey 31 Report Share Posted February 5, 2012 who said no pads?
tjhokies 47 Report Share Posted February 5, 2012 who said no pads? Â I would guess the VHSL.
ehcwasp 27 Report Share Posted February 5, 2012 The VHSL catastrophic insurance will not cover any full pad practices that take place out of season. Helmets are allowed for safety purposes, but no pads.
dukey 31 Report Share Posted February 6, 2012 I believe you can go with shoulder pads....as far as full contact i would assume you would have to purchase the insurance plan for your school
UNIONFAN 10 Author Report Share Posted February 7, 2012 Pads or not spring ball will benifit the players who are dedicated to football. I hope coaches take advantage of it
