Congrats to all the players and especially to the Richlands young men. (Devon made first team on both sides of the ball)

The Virginia High School Coaches Association has released their all-state football teams. Below are the Double A selections.

Richlands running back Devon Johnson, who has signed with Marshall, was selected as the VHSCA's Offensive Player of the Year.

The versatile Johnson, who also played linebacker for Richlands, was named the Bristol Herald Courier's defensive player of the year, and was a first team defense all-state pick by VirginiaPreps.com. He was the best player on both sides of the ball for the Blue Tornado, capping his Richlands career with over 85 solo tackles and triple digit total tackles this season. Over 1,800 yards and 32 touchdowns on offense didn't hinder Richlands' cause, either.

Josh Eberly was the VHSCA's pick as defensive player of the year.

Eberly, a linebacker, was a first team all state pick by VirginiaPreps.com, and was also a second team all-state pick a year ago by the AP. A two-time Valley District Defensive Player of the Year and this year's Region III defensive player of the year, Eberly led Broadway's unbeaten region III, division 4 champion team with over 130 tackles, 5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, 4 fumble recoveries and 4 blocked kicks. Eberly has yet to decide on a college, but has received a preferred walk-on offer from Virginia Tech.

The VHSCA's AA coaches of the year are two state champions. From Division 3, Jeff Woody was selected who coached Brookville to a state title with an exciting win over James Monroe in the championship game. Charles Pierce was named the Division 4 coach of the year after leading Briar Woods to the D-4 state title for the second year in a row.

I just noticed they don't have Richlands' Reece Strong's name listed under HM as PK.

(They do have Todd McGlothlin/Richlands listed twice under HM so that could be where the error happened.)
