ghs73 157 Report Share Posted March 6, 2012 does or has anyone heard anymore what has been going on with the squad in blfd. va i know a while back i had heard the state police was looking into embezelment by someone with the squad, but i have not heard anymore other than it is now closed. hopefully they will get someone in to fill this void for the people of blfd and that end of the county. thanks for any information on this. There were some "monetary issues" and one person is being investigated. As for the shutdown, expenses outweigh income...can't operate that way. Town and County "officials" say there will be no lapse in service...don't know exactly how that's going to happen though. We will see. 13 more jobs lost and 13 more people to the unemployment line...CHANGE we can count on... http://bdtonline.com/local/x1511867722/As-Bluefield-Va-Rescue-Squad-prepares-to-close-local-leaders-say-there-will-be-no-lapse-in-emergency-service i know one employee that has already found a job though it is with the county school board and she did the billing for the squad. so hopefully someone will come in and take over. i know that the hospital stopped resupplying the squad when they took patients to regional which is sad. and of course insurance will not pay much for transport but that is just about everywhere even here in staunton and i work for the state and my insurance only pays a small amount of the cost to transport to hospitals. it could be worse could be like the wva side losing everything including population and buildings.
