That success should start really showing up next year for the gmen.

How much size is coming up the pipe? That's what I think separates Graham from the cream of the Division 2 (soon-to-be-AA) crop.

futbolking 766 Report Share Posted October 9, 2012 No, the first of those teams are sophomores THIS year. Unless we're talking about the 7th graders... (which I wasn't...my mistake)... we do have a good bunch of 9th and 10th graders, however.

There are a couple of freshmen that are getting significant playing time on the line this year...one of them "Looney" is a starter...... I'm counting 8th grade classes. First undefeated season are now in 10th grade, second undefeated season are now in 9th grade. Plus this year's 8th grade class, if they win vs. Grayson Co. And those boys hopefully have 2''-3'' left to grow by the time they're sophomores. Of course, you'd like to have a few guys that are already there (6'4'' or larger, like Grayson), but that's good. Here's to hoping that time brings good things! Edited October 9, 2012 by UVAObserver
GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 Make it three undefeated seasons in a row. GMS beat Grayson Co. 34-8 last night to finish the season at 7-0. Word is, more talent is down the line, too!
dukey 31 Report Share Posted October 16, 2012 Why have they not had JV team for the past couple of years.....seems with last two years 8th grade success they should have had a strong couple of JV teams. Is it due to fact many 9th/10th graders or playing Varsity? How about the 9th/10graders who are not staring Varsity ...what kind of playing experience are they getting. Not trying to be critical but it appers G-Men are obviously headin in right direction but find it odd no JV team. What is the scoop G-Man Thanks

CoachedB4 12 Report Share Posted October 17, 2012 Just wanted to say congrats to the GMS squad on their success and to say that there are a few younger kids playing on the varsity squad but there are enough young men left to make a JV squad and that is imperative for the future success of the GMEN. Those young men who are not getting to play varsity, do not have a lot of incentive to get out there and continue to be a tackling dummy during those long practices, so they may start to lose interest! JV is just an important part of a program!
futbolking 766 Report Share Posted October 18, 2012 What about that kid that they call "Juice" ... had a few videos on the internet a while back when he played for the Chargers... is he in middle school yet?

I agree.. but it takes time to get the program back to where it was... they haven't had enough kids to field a JV...maybe this year they did... hopefully it wll be back soon.
