I thought I was both hillbilly and a redneck I don't need some Yankees telling the rest of the world that there is a difference between the two. ThomasDenton 79 Author Report Share Posted October 20, 2012 From their research, they said that the rednecks (the term originated in Scotland) were the Scottish immigrants who worked more on the plantations in the flatlands around the Appalachias. The hillbillies were the Scotch-Irish immigrants who were small farmers in the hills of Appalachia.

ThomasDenton 79 Author Report Share Posted October 20, 2012 I think History Channel's going the way of MTV. Bringing in too many reality TV shows and forgetting what they were originally made for. I don't get History 2, but if it plays out like MTV, it'll go from being what the channel was made for to following in the original channel's footsteps (then you'll have 2 channels full of everything except what it was made for). That being said, I do like some of the shows they have...I just think those shows would be better for a channel like TLC or Discovery. redtiger 1,742 Report Share Posted October 21, 2012 Just watched the Hillbillies vs Rednecks show. Well done and I get what they are saying. They also came to Lonesome Pine Raceway in Coeburn.
