Looks like as player99 said, Bland will be playing at Salem instead. Certainly makes more sense. Heritage-Salem still listed at Salem though. I updated the brackets with the locations that are up on the VHSL site now.

A bit of history, I found on the VHSL site about high school basketball in Virginia for boys and girls. Will post under this thread ....

http://www.vhsl.org/athletics.basketball

HISTORY

BOYS BASKETBALL

VHSL began holding state championships for boys basketball in 1915, when Charlottesville High School defeated Lynchburg High School, 35-25. Since then, Martinsville High School has won a VHSL-record 13 state championships. In 2007-08, Group A began a two-division format to promote equity and opportunity for the smallest schools to compete for a state championship. In 2009, Group AA began a two-division tournament format.

The 2012 VHSL champions in Group A-D1 - Galax; Group A-D2 - Lancaster; Group AA-D3 - Brunswick; AA-D4 - Christiansburg; and Group AAA - Hampton.

9,482 boys at 312 member schools participated in boys basketball during the 2011-12 season.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

VHSL held girls basketball championships from 1920-27 before resuming championship competition in 1975. Girls basketball was a fall sport in Group AAA from 1975-77 before switching to a winter sport; and a fall sport in Group A and AA from 1975 until 2002. In 2007-08, Group A began a two-division format to promote equity and opportunity for the smallest schools to compete for a state championship. In 2008-09, Group AA began a two-division championship format. James W. Robinson Secondary School of Fairfax and Radford High School have won a VHSL-record six state championships followed by Blacksburg High School with five titles.

The 2012 VHSL champions in Group A-D1 - East Rockingham; Group A D-2 - George Mason; Group AA D-3 - R.E. Lee-Staunton; Group AA D-4 - Millbrook and Group AAA - Oakton.

7,590 girls at 310 member schools participated in girls basketball during the 2011-12 season, making basketball the third most popular VHSL sport for girls.

Good luck to Richlands, JI Burton, and Gate City as they head to Richmond. Bring the trophies back to Southwest Virginia!
Ditto. Would also like to wish Central and Clintwood good luck as well.

Just talked to Lloyd in Richmond.

He went up yesterday and, thankfully, took my suggestion of going thru Lynchburg, missing the mess. He talked to one local coach, who apparently didn't leave until after school dismissed, who said Afton Mtn. had 4" when he went through (I'm thinking 9 pm ish).

Anyway, VHSL is now expecting some finals will be played on Sunday (meaning some teams might not get to Richmond for their Thursday game).
