Beamerball 566 Author Report Share Posted June 14, 2014 Bearcats win the 2A title. Final - Virginia High 7 Strasburg 2 Strasburg tried to rally in the 7th but only got one in leaving the bases loaded on a strike out to end the game. Va High went up 2-0 early and held a 2-1 lead into the 6th where they came through with a big inning to pull ahead 7-1. VHS winning pitcher Daniels gave up just one hit through the first 6 innings. Bearcat Bob 491 Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 I think this team may have been the best VHS since the 1981 Thornton "Bean" Stringfellow led team. Both were very deep in pitching and could hit 1-9.

Graham-VT Fan 46 Report Share Posted June 28, 2014 I think this team may have been the best VHS since the 1981 Thornton "Bean" Stringfellow led team. Both were very deep in pitching and could hit 1-9. I played against "Bean" while at Graham. My freshman year (spring of 1980) we played VHS in a doubleheader and Johnny Quintier pitched both games of the doubleheader. We won the first game something like 2-1 and lost the second game about 3-2. Have no idea how Johnny pitched as well as he did that day, but VHS was pretty much the premiere team in AA at that time (that's when there was just a A, AA, and AAA and the SWD had about 12-13 teams). Great times.
