Coach Bales legacy will live forever in Smyth County and all of the Commonwealth as a giant among Coaches and teacher of the sport of football. The 1970 State Championship team from Chilhowie will always be known as a team that achieved A dream only possible by faith in their Coach and respect for their teammates for a sport that Each player loved.
