Washington County senior league softball

Washington County senior league softball team competing in the Senior League World Series this week.  They just finished up pool play going 2-2 and will be the #2 seed out of their pool going into Friday's quarterfinals.  They face Asofem out of Manuabo, Puerto Rico today at 5:30 in the quarterfinal round.

In the 7th inning, Washington County is leading the team out of Puerto Rico, 5-2.

Washington Co. adds 3 more, leading 8-2, to start the bottom half of the 7th.

Washington County wins, 8-3!  They advance to Saturday's semifinal round.  Will play Bacolod City, Philippines in the 2nd semifinal at 8.

 

The finals are Sunday.  They'll at least play in the championship or 3rd place game on Sunday.  Championship game will be on ESPN2.

Washington County falls to the team out of the Philippines, 9-0.  This Philippines team has only surrendered one run in the tournament so far.

Washington County will face team out of British Columbia (Canada) in the consolation game on Sunday, 11 a.m.  They lost to this team in the opener of pool play.  Nice showing for the locals regardless out of the outcome.

Still, a remarkable accomplishment.  As a parent of a daughter who has played against all the Wash. Co. girls, I say congratulations.
