MT FAN 91 119 Report Share Posted October 31, 2022 I emailed the VHSL and I got a quick response with clarification. The teams that had others cancel games on them have 3 options. You can take a forfeit and receive rating points accordingly, you can find a new opponent to replace the cancelled game or you can declare no contest and divide the rating points by the number of games played. CPF 417 Report Share Posted October 31, 2022 I was told anything after week 5 is considered a forfeit. The team has the choice to accept or not. But I know in Galax's case they chose to divide by nine, but apparently the teams that lost power points from the forfeits still get them. Graham shows 12 points from Galax and 14 from George Wythe. Those teams currently sit with 5 wins and 6 wins.
MT FAN 91 119 Author Report Share Posted October 31, 2022 I emailed the VHSL and what I posted is what I was told by them on how it worked. They didn't specify how it would affect someone like Graham so maybe they still get the points?
Union_Fan 2,156 Report Share Posted October 31, 2022 Those extra 2 pts for Galax and GW on Graham's points are for the class disparity. 16 pts for Class 1, 10 for the 5 wins, then 2pts for the difference between Class 1 & Class 2 (16 vs 18). No they are showing 12 power points for wins against Galax and 14 for GW. 16/12 Galax, 16/14 GW.

Since Graham is a 2A school and played "down", they are awarded 16 pts for a win against a Class 1 school, then 2 "class" points as if though they played a Class 2 school. The extra 2 class points show up in the win column. Using Lord Botetourt/Riverheads as an example... LB was awarded "16 W 18" for their win against RH. 16 for the Class 1 win then 18 additional points. Riverheads has 7 wins, so 14 of the 18 points are for their wins. The other 4 are their class points because LB played down to Class 1 RH. A Class 3 win would yield 20 base points, so they get the difference (4 pts) added to the wins column.
