Block Party at old KMart

If anyone is looking for something fun to do on Saturday, the nonprofit I work for is hosting a community block party and open house. We recently renovated and moved into the old KMart in Abingdon and we are inviting the community to come see what it looks like inside now. We will have building tours, Rendezvous Express will be open, a food truck rally, a BIG touch-a-truck event for kids, kids activities and inflatables, a GOTEC STEM mobile lab, K-9 demonstrations and more. 

It's this Saturday (Nov. 2) from 10am - 2pm at the old KMart in Abingdon off of Exit 17.

For those interested, here is the list of what is happening tomorrow! 

Food Truck Rally featuring Happy Ice, Savory Spice Mama, Blended Pedaler, Hot Mess Express & Chili Lime Kitchen. Rendezvous Express (a smaller version of Rendezvous Cafe) will be open as well. 

Touch-a-truck featuring fire trucks, police cars, ambulance and crash truck, the Food City shopping cart, cement mixer, VDOT paint truck and crash cushion truck, National Guard humvees, boom truck, tanker truck, big rig wrecker/tow truck, SWAT vehicle and we will have a helicopter land at 11 am! 

The Abingdon High School band will perform at 10 am. We will have K-9 demonstrations by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

93.9 WMEV will be live on location with Henry Thomas from 10-noon. 

A GOTEC mobile robotics lab will be on site. 

Plenty of hands-on kids' activities. 

You can take a tour of what used to be KMart and see what the Regional Workforce & Child Development Hub is all about and how we are helping students and families in 21 SWVA counties and cities. 

You can also take a tour of the childcare center and see about available childcare as well.
