Wow, the backup QB for the bowl game has not even attempted a pass this year. Battling alcoholism is more important in the big picture than football, but it must have been a pretty bad situation to do this immediately and miss the bowl game.

Doing it "immediately" because the semester/classes are now over and he has time to start taking care of things before classes start in January...football isn't important at this point for him and his situation...

Or he doesn't want to get imbarressed in the game. ha. It looks like if he attended Ohio State they would have advised him to keep playing, and not worry about an edu.

i'd say he got caught with alcohol and is taking a "decision making" class like anyone at VT has to do when they are either underage drinking, or drunk in public.

No, he's already been through that class due to an incident earlier in his time at VT. He has a REAL problem with alcohol that needs REAL attention, that's why he's checking into a rehab center in hopes of ridding himself of this demon.

How could he get "imbarressed" in the game when it was very likely that he wouldn't have seen any playing time anyway???

It seems that winning ten games and advancing to your conference championship game isn't all flowers and happy stuff. Reading this makes me think, "as the pork rind turns".
