Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted December 30, 2006 The future looked so bright for this kid after his sophomore and junior seasons, but he couldn't stay out of trouble off the field and was dismissed from the team prior to the first game of the season. At one point a couple of years ago, he was considered Virginia's top RB prospect in the 2007 class. http://www.swvafootball.com/forum/newpost.php?Cat=0&Board=football&page=0 Former Pulaski Cougars star dies Pulaski's head coach confirmed Kevin Crouse has died, but didn't know the circumstances. By Robert Anderson and Ray Cox The Roanoke Times Former Pulaski County football running back Kevin Crouse died Friday, according to Pulaski head football coach Jack Turner. Turner did not know the circumstances surrounding the death of Crouse, 18, who was dismissed from the Pulaski County football team just prior to the 2006 season. "I just heard about it late this evening," Turner said late Friday night. "It's just a shame." Pulaski County High School principal Rod Reedy confirmed the death late Friday, but had no other information. Crouse was an All-Timesland running back for the Cougars in 2005, rushing for 1,674 yards and 20 touchdowns despite missing the first two games of the season with an ankle sprain. He practiced with the Cougars this summer, but did not play this fall. Turner told The Roanoke Times on Sept. 18 that Crouse's high school football career was "finished." In what turned out to be the last game of his high school career, Crouse rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown in the Cougars' 34-7 loss to eventual state champion Salem in the 2005 Region III semifinals. The Cougars went 2-8 this season without Crouse. In 2004 Crouse made the All-Region III team and was named a Roanoke Times Sizzlin' Sophomore when he ran for 1,538 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also started at linebacker for three seasons.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Author Report Share Posted December 30, 2006 According to Cougardave over at VirginiaPreps.com, Crouse took his own life, which makes this death even more sad in my eyes. http://virginiapreps.rivals.com/showmsg....163&style=
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted December 30, 2006 I know from talking with CougarDave that the young man had a lot of problems in his life. Its very unfortunate that he thought taking his own life was the solution to them...

cougar4evr 10 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 Kevin was one of the most talented players to ever wear the cougar uniform. He had a world of potiential that unfortunately will never be realized. It just makes all of us sick that such a talented players life ends tragically like this.It is my hope that maybe such a tragedy will send a wake up call to others that life is Gods gift and value it dearly.Part of growing up is the right to make your own decisions but those decisions also effect many others. Our prayers are with the Crouse family. Rest in peace Kevin!
