The Big Least is a joke and you know it.. They need to be stripped of their BCS affiliation. Why didn't Boise get a shot at the national title game??? Also, how do you tell a team with one loss that lost to a team such as example (Auburn, LSU, Texas, Ohio State) that since you played a hard schedule and won all your games except for one that you are eliminated from the national championship but, on the other hand you tell a team with a poor schedule (WVU) that if you go undefeated that you can play for a national championship?? If that's the case Notre Dame should schedule all big least schools and Div 1AA schools.

I guess that the Big East proved on the field this year that they are pretty good means nothing. Louisville and WVU beat the top two seeded teams in the ACC. Rutgers whipped Kansas St in their bowl. JEALOUSY is an ugly thing my friend.

First off, just because two teams are seeded higher doesn't mean they are better. The Big East beat two ACC teams in bowl games. Woohoo! Next, Rutgers whipping KANSAS STATE means nothing. It means more that the third best Big East team was in a bowl against Kansas state. Top to Bottom, there is no way you can say the Big East was a better conference this year. A couple teams had decent years in the Big East, but when you look down the line, the Big East just doesn't compare to depth in the ACC. And look at the future, its ridiculous! what happens when, NC State, Miami, and FSU have DECENT years. The ACC will be nasty. But do you really see Rutgers sticking around near the top? And Pitt will bounce back, but bounce back to wear? a pretty good big east team? So even if you want to say the Big East had a better year, it won't ever be this close again. smile.gif

If you want to see how bad WVU's defense is, look no further than their overall ranking in team defense and compare it to the weak schedule. If they had what you could even begin to consider an average defense, they wouldn't be ranked 48th in total team defense with a schedule like that. It's funny that you mention all of those teams as well, twopac, because they're all ranked higher than WVU in team defense with the exception of Duke, UNC, and Northeastern.

You have to get off the subject of the ACC's crappy bowl season and VT's soft schedule to talk about WVU's defense. Since when has head to head defenses determined overall rankings. WVU's defense may not be great but as a TEAM WVU is still ranked higher than VT and may be in the top 10.

The quality of VT's opponents were questioned, therefore I cited the fact that all of the teams that were listed with the exception of three had better defenses statistically on the season than WVU. WVU has a weak schedule and barely cracks the top 50 in total defense, which speaks to how poorly your defense is. VT was projected to be 8-4 this season after losing several key players from the '05 squad and ended up 10-3 with the nation's best total defense, and an appearance in one of the better bowl games outside of the BCS. WVU, on the other hand, were highly touted as national title contenders with a cakewalk of a schedule, had a potential Heisman candidate in Slaton, and what do you do? You fall flat on your face in the biggest game of the year, in addition to losing to a medicore USF team which you justify as "up and coming" in order to save face. Best of all, you win the Gator Bowl and 90% of the fans on the board treat it like you've won the national title. Guess what? Been there, done that. We won the Gator Bowl last year and it really isn't that big of an accomplishment. The bottom line is that none of the WVU fans on here can admit to themselves that this season was a disappointment and you somehow try to numb the pain by playing the whole "at least we were better than the ACC" card, while still attempting to hide your contempt for the conference that didn't want you. Keep winning those "Gator Bowl championships" because Virginia Tech is and will continue to build themselves as the premiere program in the ACC and the nation.

It's funny how fast WVU fans forget about the old Big East. It took VT, Miami, and Boston College to leave so you could finally win a conference championship. No wonder WVU and Rutgers have winning records. By the way didn't you guys lose to S. Florida which started their football program in the 1990's. Good luck knowing that you can never compete for a national title in a SORRY conference.

Are you F'in serious? The Big East was the much better conference this year.

Wake Forest lost to Lousiville in the BCS

Georgia Tech lost to WVU in the Gator

NC State lost to Akron - enough said

Miami got embarrassed by Louisville

Virginia got taken to the woodshed by Pitt

Maryland was destroyed by the Mountaineers

Florida St - a very avg team this year and will be very avg as long as Bowden keeps aging

Va Tech - had a good year but did lose their bowl game

Boston College - solid year

Clemson - ended up being a very average team

UNC - HORRIBLE

DUKE - HORRIBLE

Did anyone actually think that the ACC wasn't down this season? I think that would be a damn good reason for the lack of production in the bowl season.

Well they havent won a BCS game since 1999. I must say that is not impressive.

You won the Sugar Bowl there, champ and it only took you about 17 other bowls where you choked or were either embarrassed.

what are you trying to imply??!?!?! I thought you were a VT fan but with this post you just clearly dogged the CHOKIES. Yes, WVU will keep winning BCS Bowls, Gator Bowls, Big East Titles, and things of that sort........just keep on living up to the "chokie" title....you guys sure did a good job of living up to it this bowl season, blowing a 21-3 halftime lead to a team with ZERO offense.....by the way, how does a team with absolutely NO offense put up 28 second half points on the Nation's Number #1 Defense???? Clearly, this is a case of a Defense with Statistics bolstered by a lack of quality opponents!
