No direspect to Sarver, but several relatives of mine live in Salem; I also have a cousin entering Salem High School next year. Therefore, my heart's with Salem on this one. sandman 13 Report Share Posted December 6, 2004 In 2001 in the AA final games in Virginia (both divisions), the four head coaches (Ryder- Lafayette, Hicks- Pulaski Co., Sarver- Harrisonburg, and Carlock- Graham) all had played or coached under coach Gainer. That in itself is a testiment to the legacy and legend of the man. It's incredible that one man could have so severe an influence, that it is still being felt today. Are you sure the coach for Lafayette was Ryder??? I was thinking it was someone else, maybe Paul Wheeler???
