  1. Forget about it! He ain't going nowhere.
  2. He was recruited as a LB, but we all know that it could change once he's there. But I'd rather see him as a LB.
  3. For those of you who weren't a part of this board back in 06, here is the infamous "Band" thread, which sparked quite a ruckus. http://www.swvasports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7039&highlight=Band
  4. The curtains at the top of the stage caught fire during AVENGED SEVENFOLD's November 29, 2011 concert at Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. No one was injured in the incident, which was caused by the band's pyrotechnics, and after the small flame was extinguished, the show continued. Commented AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows from the stage, "I guess that's what happens when we try and blow everything up." Fan-filmed video footage of the incident can be seen below. http://www.youtube.com/embed/0ZOVaksJSA0 I was front row for this!!! The most fun I've ever had at a concert in my life. Being as close as I was (those videos are not mine) was amazing. Front row rules. Lol. I have over 200 pics up on Facebook. But I don't know the link to my FB by memory, and I can't access it at work. Lance or BTF or bulldogs52, would you care to post the link to my facebook on here? I give you permission. Lol.
  5. Richlands owned the area during the Swartz era. Honor Band Ratings are all that matters to a band. That means you got a Superior rating overall in the Field Show portion, and straight superiors in the Concert portion in March. It means alot to a band.
  6. We got laps and high mark times...I hated laps.
  7. Trent Dilfer won too......and I don't see Anyone putting him on a pedestal.
  8. I really wish GMans name was Ronald....lmao
  9. Because of the lackluster way he's doing it. On a side note, I still think the Broncos take a QB first round, regardless of what happens this year.
  10. I feel ya man. My senior year, I was the back field conductor for the second movement in our show. We did a double competition that year. Both in Charlottesville. One at Monticello, one at Cville High. That morning we stopped at Glenvar to do a run-through on their field (thanks to their boosters for letting us do this). However, it had came a monsoon in Roanoke apparently. And the game the night before tore the field to shreds. As I was running to the podium in that run-through, I slid in the mud, doing a complete split. As a freshman, I partially tore my ACL in my left knee, but not enough for surgery. Just enough to hurt real bad. When I slid, I aggregated that knee pretty bad. I went the rest of the day, 2 run-throughs at Glenvar as well as a show at each high school. It absolutely sucked! So I know what it's like to march injured.
  11. I've been trying to get this point across for over 40 posts. They won't have it.
  12. Wtf is your problem? We have proven that BY THE DEFINITION band IS a sport. There is way more physical activity in it that you could ever imagine. Baritones weigh 15-20 lbs and during the course of a show, they hold them up for 12-15 minutes straight. So to understand how thy feels, go get a 20 lb weight and hold it at chest level, 8-12 inches out from your chest for 15 straight minutes. It's not easy. A marching tuba weights 70 lbs and all that weight rests on your neck and shoulders. It's not easy. Also, I wore a pedometer on competition day once. From the time I left my house at 6:30 am to the time I got back at 11 pm, I had walked 8.9 miles. That's an awful long way for something that requires "no skill". Furthermore, it is extremely difficult to learn how to play any instrument. 1000s of hours of practice before you even get to march. You have to know how to produce well over 30 different notes, many using the exact same fingering or slide position. It's NOT easy. I come from a band well known all around this state. We were one of the best in the entire state many years. We've won competitions from JMU to Charlottesville. West Virginia. Tennessee. Boone North Carolina at ASU. We won best band at the COTTON BOWL. Out of 20 bands from all over in Dallas Texas, we won. So don't sit there and tell me I have no skill. I can play trombone, trumpet, tuba, baritone, saxophone, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drums. So until you've walked in the shoes of a musician, DO NOT DOWN US!!
  13. No skill huh? Let's see you memorize 5000 notes, 100 different spots on a field, horn flashes, marching at different step sizes, when to stop and start.
  14. It doesn't take any skill to look pretty and hold a sign.
  15. How??? There is NO COMPETITION for the girls that hold the round numbers.
  16. Noun: An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others. By that definition, band IS a sport. There are huge band competitions. Everywhere. Hundreds in the same state every weekend through football season.
  17. We will see what happens in the next few weeks once teams can start FA and trades and such again.
  18. I agree based on the body of work that he deserves 1st team, but in the VT game, he damn sure didn't look like a 1st teamer, IMO. lol
  19. How in the world is Hosley not a 1st teamer? He was a 1st team All-American last year. And it's not like he got worse, opposing teams just don't throw his way as much. That should count for something!
  20. Uhh. Have you watched the NFL? Rivers has had a 13-3 season. Put up huge numbers. Won countless games. Tebow can't even score more than 18 except one game, and he can't, I repeat, CAN'T keep taking the kind of hits he is. Look at Vick, it just doesn't work.
  21. I think what kills LBJ, is that he has had to handle the majority of the load his entire career, so he was getting really tired late in the season. Anyone who watches the NBA knows he Was the Cavs. And I think he handled much of the load last year as well, simply because they hadn't worked together long. So in year two, I expect the three to coexist well, and gel a little better, which should produce a ring in June.
  22. I still think he's hurt. Which could contribute to what you mentioned.
  23. I would take Rivers hands down. He's having a bad year this year because he's hurt. He won't say it, but I think he's hurt.
  24. I'm taking the Heat over the Thunder in 6. I don't think anyone can stop the Thunder, same goes to the Heat. And I think LBJ has had enough of the choke jokes, and will show people why he's the best player in the game today.
