Should we have a sticky thread? I posted Union's in the schedule thread.

I had just heard Martinsville was the class of the area, I really dont follow basketball much outside of the local schools unless Union is playing them.

Ha, completely wrong on both accounts. I played football until my junior year, until I quit voluntarily. The coaches begged me for two years to come back and play, but my life was in a bad place at that point and I made the mistake of not rejoining the team. Try again, all mighty sports wizard.

Im sorry you cant handle that. And the LPD Forum makes this forum look like Superman III. That forum had constant posts and great posters. You can keep whining and crying, but I know sports inside and out, you are lucky to have me posting on here. And for the record, since I am getting attacked, I never flamed anyone or said anything outlandish until GURU started to belittle Union. I never went on the offensive on anyone on here, while several of you have tried to take shots at me. And no you dont have to sleep with a picture a Phil, but youll always be a loser.

Half of these people used to post on a real forum, the LPD Forum. And I was well-known on the LPD forum. Please explain to me how my comments were sexist? Just because I dont care about them does not make them inferior, it just means i dont care. You guys are the biggest bunch of whiners I have ever seen, its an internet forum SON (I am older than you are), grow a pair.

I have heard Martinsville is the team to beat right now, they are loaded if I heard right.

GC is better than Wise, and they match up better with Central than they do with Union. Union barely beat Wise, but it was very, interesting game to say the least. UHS goes to Lee Friday (whos getting smashed by Lebanon tonight), who else plays this week?

Union-53 Battle-37 at John Battle Decent win for Union, but Battle isnt a great team. Union did need a good road conference win.

Union is in control at the end of the third, up 39-17. Be a good C40 win.

If its obvious, explain it? Because I dont enjoy their sports, its marginalizing them? Thats stupid. I dont enjoy lacrosse, am I marginalizing it? I said nothing sexist and will not apologize, and if RyanVT has something else to say, man up and say it.

Stay competitive? We are doing just fine GURU, we dont need to resort to GC tactics to compete. No team has the athletes they had in the 90s, but look at Union now. We have very good athletes. Jay Gavin, James Mitchell, Rashaaun, a JV player who has great size, Jake Barnett, Bryce Spears, etc... Mitchell has potential to be a very great athlete, and Union has a complete more young freshman like Jeb Stidham that will be a force to be reckoned with in two years.

Could be, to my knowledge none of the better athletes at Powell Valley intentionally held back a grade. Hell even Brad Robbins, Phil's son, was in the same grade all throughout school. Appalachia had done it, so Union must do it too now. If its a regular thing, I am not a fan if its only for athletics, the chances of little Timmy or Trish becoming a Div. 1 athlete is very slim so the kid should be allowed to live as they see fit. If I kid believes its for the best academic wise, then I'm all for it, but I just dont like making a child take classes they already did well in just to have another year of eligibility as a more developed athlete.

I hope you are right, because as you said there are four C40 teams that are capable of beating each other and are all very good teams. Lebanon has Union's number it seems, although from people who've watched both games, Union is capable of beating Lebanon, but Lebanon has a great coach and a good team. Virginia High is loaded with talent, but they seem to be lacking in the coaching department. Union holds one win over VHS, but it did not count in conference play (one of the Lebanon games and one of the Central games were in tournaments too so not conference games). Gate City is very good and can beat any of the conference teams on any night. They have a proven coach and some good talent. Union is extremely athletic, has a beast inside, and is great in transition defense. The back court doesn't have one reliable knock down shooter, but Spears and Hall are capable of hitting a three pointer in some situations but aren't the automatic type. Mitchell is an offensive force and a defensive stopper, Barnett is as good as anyone inside, he is sneaky athletic and strong as an ox. Jay Gavin is long, athletic, and can leap. He is not as assertive as I would like at times, but he can work inside and get his own shot and is gifted athletically. Noaks is a little fireball man, he is tough as nails and fights for every inch. He is a good shooter, not a great one, but he can handle the ball, slash and get into the lane and draw fouls (if they would get called) and plays in your face defense. I believe Coach Moore is a good coach but at times I scratch my head at some of his decisions. Lee and Central are not push overs either, TJ McBobbyKnightAmis always has his team playing hard and pressuring the ball. Mills can shoot while Salyers can be an irritant on defense and get into the lane. They lack a real inside scoring threat tho, and Mills can be taken out of games at times if you keep someone in his face. I know nothing about Lee other than GC barely beat them by five so they must have a decent team. But all four of those teams are very good teams, and I know GC/Union are both young and return a ton of talent next year.

Im not the poster that came into a Union thread to post about Gate City, that was GURU. Im not obsessed with Gate City, he is obsessed with Union.

Stats from last night's Union/Wise game: Central: Dude Bro Cameron Salyers led the team with 18 points, 6 FG and 5-7 from the FT line (1 3PM) while playing harassing defense (a lot of the times holding, but I wont go into that). Caleb Mills was the only other Warrior in double figures with 14, hitting four three point shots and two FTs). Daniel England led Central with six rebounds. Total: 16 FG (6-10 from 3pt), 8-14 from FT line. Union: Union was led by Jake Barnett's 17 points (7 FG, 3-3 from the line) and he added seven rebounds and at least two blocks. James Mitchell was the only other Bear in double figures, adding 10 points (5 FG) and at least four blocks. Jay Gavin led Union in rebounds with seven, adding two points and at least one block. Rashaan Noaks only had two points, but had two crucial offensive rebounds to seal the game. Total: 21 FG (3 3PM), 4-9 FT. Union had shot two free throws until the last minute of the game. Central shot all of their FTs before the last minute of the game. And I apologize for short changing Eliza Mullins, who led the Central girls with 16 points (3 3PM) while Reynolds had 8. Ali Morgan led Union with 11 points.
