  1. Guess Union is tough enough after all?

Union led by double digits most the game, and were clearly the better team. GC tied it up once, but it was never really in doubt.

Union was better at every position, GC only hung around because 14 can shoot and got hot for a time. But other than that, Union controlled the entire game.

    Go Bears!

  2. Neither Grant nor Kamara would see the field at Alabama to be honest, but both are very talented players. Kamara could be an awesome change of pace back for UT, he possesses breakaway speed and the big play threat that UT lacks with Hurd.

Grant is just another cog in the Auburn machine; he isnt someone special and he was arguably Auburn's 3rd best back this year behind CAP and Roc Thomas. Hell Jovon Reed may be better too.

  3. Gate City travels to Union Friday. The Bears look to extend their four game winning streak while Gate City looks to take control of the district. GC has the advantage points-wise as they get to play Virginia High twice and potentially receive the added points a victory against VHS brings.

Can Union grind out a win? Will Gate City go on the road and score a huge road win?

Jay Gavin from Union is on an absolute roll right now, he is a tough match up for any team.

  4. UT fans didn't have a problem with Bama fans from 1995 to 2006 because UT was 10-2 vs Bama.  Now that Bama is winning again and has won 8 straight, Bama fans are the devil.  I've lived it.  Trust me, when you're winning it's easier not to hate the rival fan base.

lol agreed. I definitely hated UT more when they were dominating us. That damn 5 OT game in 2004 maybe? It was Casey Clausen's last year was as heartbreaking a loss as I can remember.

I would bet the UT fans just LOVED the 09 Bama/UT game with Mt. Cody blocking those FGs hehe

  5. Congratulations on some really great and dominating years of late.  I've always said that pre 2008 Alabama fans are great.  Having been to many Tenn-Alabama games, believe it or not, there is a ton of respect between the two programs as far as the loyal Tenn & Bama fans.  There is not a lot of trash talk, fights, and all that you think there would be when these two play.  There is usually just a lot of "Roll Tides" and "Go Big Orange".  Maybe more trash talk this year from UT fans due to the addition of Lane Kiffin.  I personally have no problem with him leaving Tenn for his dream job.  If any of us are offered our dream jobs, we would jump at the chance.  But, I have a good employer that has put food on my family's  table, and I wont leave and say see ya in the middle of the night.  Thats the only problem I have with him.  I never attended UT or any other college for that matter.  But having been to well over 150 games, I would say that I am a true fan.

You obviously are a true UT fan, props.

Ive been to several UT/Bama games as well and Ive never seen any incidents between fans. Its a great rivalry but a respectful one.

  6. That is such a lame argument.

I am an Alabama fan, and have been since the early 90's. Yes, they were good in the early 90s, but that does not mean much to a 6 year old kid. I became a fan because my mom had a lot of respect for Gene Stallings, who had a handicapped son and never shied away from having him in the public light. He always made sure his son was a part of the program and got to enjoy the successes.

I stuck with Alabama thru the lean years, 1996-2006, the probations, the cheating incidents, Albert Means, etc....

Do I not have a right to enjoy my team's successes now (until last Thursday :( ) after sticking by my team through tough times?

How many UT/VT fans around here actually graduated from those schools?

  7. nobody here in Marion are overlooking Union I can guarantee that

Yo guys do seem pretty level headed, but the person I quoted was taking shots at Union. I believe Friday's game will be a BARNBURNER and either team could win.

    But 7-1 is 7-1.

    Wins over:

    Central (meh)

    Lee (pretty darn good)

Middlesboro (a very good team regardless of what dumbo said before, they have win over Bell Co)

Richlands (very good team glad we caught them early)

    Sullivan North (meh)

    Clintwood (pretty darn good)

    Norton (not very good)

    Losses:

@Gate City (powerhouse, top 3 in the West)

  8. Union is 7-1 but without a lot of luck they are 3-4. They still beat Marion because they get the suspended boy #13 back and he will hit you. Probably their best player.

Blah blah, excuses are excuses. Luck plays a factor in any game. The only games that Union 'lucked' was possibly Richland's/Lee. Central is the lucky team, if Union can field a kickoff it could have been a two score game. Union deserves to be 7-1, don't hate bc they can win close games.

Rich would prb beat us now, same w GC, but everyone else I just hope you keep overlooking Lil ole lucky Union.

  9. I believe Union has a much better shot at winning than people on here are giving them. Its gonna be a tough road game, but Union has a huge road win at Richlands. Union has so many dynamic playmakers who can turn ten yards into sixty (see Noaks' incredible run in the first quarter last night, just electric), and are better on D than the GC/Central game showed. Like I said, Marion is supposedly good and they can def win_ but Union can as well.

  10. Union did beat Richlands but it was a razor close win at the end and Richland's prbaly the better team. But last nights score is smewhat deceiving, Union is a couple TDs better than Wise just a few funky bounces went awry and I believe people aren't giving Union enough of a chance v Marion.
