  1. I thought Northwestern pretty much dominating Stanford was a shock. Maybe Stanford is piss poor this year but they normally have great fundamentals and play solid smashmouth football no matter how much they lack in talent. Kinda suprised on this one. I expected to see Wisconsin give Bama a little bit more of a fit than they did. However, their starting RB did go out with an injury in the first half.....but 40 yards rushing is still putrid. In defense to them, Bamas defensive front is SOLID. It will take a dual threat QB to shake them up i think. Another couple big shocks was Arizona St getting pummeled by A&M...not even close really. And Oregon letting EWU hang near 50 on them along with a ton of yards. An awful QB and awful QB performance and Michigan still had a chance to beat the Utes. I think in another 3 years Harbaugh will have them in the mix.... even though I can not stand him. I won't say that BG giving TN a fit was as big of a shock due to Johnson being a highly touted QB and having good receivers. Biggest let down for them was the secondary not being able to stop Gherig Dieter....no answer whatsoever. But they did pull away finally. TN has a good backfield and Dobbs is pretty solid. Who's everyone's favorite matchups for week 2?? First week is almost in the books with OSU and VT still left.
  2. I'm gonna say maybe a 10-14 point ball game. Depends on if GC can score on most of their possessions.....defense is nonexistent so that's not a factor. If they get behind its over. They literally have to score every possession and hope to come up with maybe a turnover or two on defense and run out the clock. I still see South winning. Gonna say: South- 42 GC- 34
  3. In all honesty. ....I think if you pit these teams together 10 times....you get exactly what you got last night each time! A close game that comes down to a final play with the winner being a toss up. No matter how anyone wants to slice it..... Richlands and Union pair up against one another better than any 2 teams out there right now. Late in the year Union too will be improved, so Richlands improving to the point that they are far better by the end of the year will be void in the argument if and when they play again. Both are great....both played great last....the ball just bounced Unions way again in the turnover and mistakes category. That's all you can make of it. Mistakes and turnovers would more than likely be the deciding factor in the next one as well. If they play again you can bet I'll be present....I'll have a personal day saved up at work by then. Be nice to see a great game without having to be tensed up the whole time.
  4. I called that part myself. I was off on my score as I predicted 40-35 Union win...but I wasn't off by much. But there was no way these two offenses were going to be held to under 21 points on either side. Defenses are equally good for both teams....but nothing in comparison to both high powered offenses.
  5. What's going on in GC. Just got off work and looks like they called the game or something due to lightning. Alot of people are leaving looks like and I know there was 11 mins left.
  6. How much time left in union/Richlands game?
  7. From listening to the game it sounds like pitiful refereeing in GC as well on both sides
  8. 14-12 now Abingdon. GC scores but misses 2 pt conversion and now playing the catch up game. Not having a kicker hurts
  9. I think even though they won the national title with Cardale last year, Urban would be crazy not to start Barrett. Cardale is talented obviously and a beast running the ball, but I think his cockiness and attitude might come back to bite him at some point if he played a full season. From some of the practice clips I seen on Rivals videos.....Cardale didn't look sharp at all and if that is any indication of who he picked as a starter then it's a no brainer. Definitely not anything similar to what he displayed last season.
  10. Have they even named the starter at QB yet for OSU? I've not been able to watch much TV here lately and I haven't checked on their site on Rivals to see.
  11. If Wisconsin defense can manage to contain Derrick Henry in the slightest I think they have a shot.....coaching problems or not. There's a big QB debacle in Bama this year and I think that keeps the ball out of the extremely young and talented playmakers hands at WR. If they are too one dimensional with Wisconsin that's when I think the badgers have a shot. I'm am ND fan and even aside from that, I still think they will pull put the W against the Longhorns....whether or not it's pretty I'd be afraid to say. If this was 2016 against the Longhorns I might have to predict against my team.....but I think Texas is another year away from being a real solid team under Coach Strong. Even though I'm unsure of the team ND is fielding this year. They may flop and lose 5 games...who knows. And even though I can't stand the Wolverines....I'll be making it a point to watch alot of their games this year. Harbaugh is like a train wreck, you just can't help but watch....and the man is a helluva coach. I'm interested in seeing how fast he gets results from those boys. Oscar Meyer may have some competition in that conference alot sooner than he anticipated. For some reason I just don't think A&M beats the Arizona State. I have Arizona State a close 2nd in the Pac 12...i think they will be a tough out.
  12. Thoughts and predictions on a few games! Maybe name a few sleeper games you think people are overlooking as well. I'm just gonna name most of what I would consider the appealing match ups....whether it be due to rank or just the wow factor of new coaches at the helm. Post em fellas!!! #1 Ohio State vs VT #2 TCU vs. Minnesota #3 Alabama vs. #20 Wisconsin #4 Baylor vs. SMU #6 Auburn vs. Louisville #11 Notre Dame vs. Texas #13 UCLA vs. Virginia #15 Arizona State vs. Texas A&M #21 Stanford vs. Northwestern #23 Boise State vs. Washington #25 Tennessee vs. Bowling Green Utah vs. Michigan North Carolina vs. South Carolina BYU vs. Nebraska Games of the week IMO: #1 Ohio State vs. VT National champs are loaded again but for some reason I think Tech still has a little something for them just like last year....especially in Blacksburg. If Brewer can up his game and if VT has found a solid RB that is healthy I think they can possibly do it again. #3 Alabama vs. #20 Wisconsin Curious as to how well the QB play will be for Bama. Overall team success will hinge on him.....Henry will be a beast as usual but if Bama doesn't have a passing game Wisconsin may be able to dial up up a defense to stop him. Wisconsin has a RB that's gonna emerge himself this year....but they also have a QB dilemma in Stave. Could be one helluva match I do believe. #6 Auburn vs. Louisville I think this is a tricky game right out of the box for Auburn. Louisville was loaded with talent last year and I think they will be solid again this year. I think it hangs in the balance of how well the QB performance is for Auburn. #11 Notre Dame vs. Texas Some say this should by all rights be a blowout but I don't really see it. The biggest question right now is how well QB Zaire will play for ND and how good they are altogether. I see 9-3 or 10-2 at best for the Irish while some have them in the Final 4. Kinda unknown how good either team is.....Texas may suprise under Charlie Strong and may give them fits or upset the Irish (I sure hope not) I'll let you fellas do the honors before I make my picks.
  13. Well.....as much as I hate to I'm gonna have to go with the Falcons on my pick. I hope the Devils prove me wrong. I think this games is closer.....I'm fairly certain Abingdon doesn't have the defense that Richlands has and I can see this game possibly being a high scoring game. I think I'll say: Abingdon - 35 Gate City- 32
  14. What's the Vineyard kids first name for Graham and what grade is he in?
  15. That's unreal! I feel like the only way that could have happened to dent it in like that was a big lineman fell on his head and caved it in.
  16. Both defenses could be great....but it's hard to tell if the offensive power at the WR position could possibly nullify the D completely for both teams and it just turn into a score fest. Or the defenses skill set could completely shut down the young QBs and the team with the best running game could walk away with the W in a very low scoring match. But something in my heart tells me this game is gonna have fireworks....not your typical low scoring LSU vs. Bama battle of the trenches if you will
  17. If that happened with his head in it I'm curious as to how he even got his head out of it without cutting it off.... Or what kind of injury the kid has due to that?!?
  18. Whether it be low or high scoring it's a general consensus that it's gonna be a close game! Is there anyone that feels it could possibly be a blowout at all?
  19. We've all discussed our thoughts on this game.....but we haven't really threw out any predictions. So let's hear it.... lay down the spread. I'm gonna say: Union- 40 RHS- 35 Union misses a few extra points and leaves the door open for the Blues to win it in a final drive but they come up short. I could just as easily pick Richlands as the winner and it being the other way around. I'll probably change my mind a dozen times this week
  20. Better hope that board can post triple digits come Friday night. Haha may be a shootout
  21. I see this possibly being about like GC and Richlands last year......I think Union will win the first match up. But for some reason I can see them playing twice and the Blues getting the best of them the 2nd time around. If they place twice Asbury should be well seasoned by then. And no I don't really think Union is better....but it being at Union is huge. Spears and Asbury are both fresh so who knows. The game I think swings off of how these 2 play. If one of them gets hot then the run game should be wide open. However, I feel like Richlands line play is FAR superior. That may actually be the true deciding factor. As yall can tell I'm struggling on who to go with here haha
  22. Curious to see how they perform against a more formidable opponent now! I feel like they may suprise some people this year.
  23. I've not heard anything set it stone on any of the injured players.....but everything I have heard from everyone has been consistent. So if that's the case #3 should return at some point this season
  24. 1) Richlands 2) Union 3) Ridgeview 4) Abingdon 5) Radford 6) Giles 7) Galax 8) Honaker 9) Gate City 10) Lee
