GC over Daniel Boone 52-46. Was not a good game at all by the Devils. Hats off to Boone....they sank a bunch of 3 pt shots while GC couldnt throw it in the ocean in the first half. Ervin had a bad night of shooting and still managed to put up 29. Its becoming quite obvious the tendonitis In his leg is giving him some major issues too. Just doesnt seem to have the same bounce in his step.

The reffing as a whole is pretty bad....everyone sees it. Theres a few that are a cut above the rest and hats off to those. But here lately I do alot of head shaking and that's about it....try to limit my griping. Mainly because I realize theres no way in hell I'd do what they do for what they make to do it. So I just sit back and hope that they can weed out the calls and get them right by committee.

I know alot of sensitive fans would disagree......but I for one didnt mind the Christmas sign at all. It's just trash talk between kids that are having fun and that's been going on since theres been rivalries in sports. I've seen far worse on signs.....some of the stuff I used to see on signs at the GC vs PV or GC vs Graham football games in the 90s would make a sailor blush. Snowflakes now just get butthurt way too easily. Was surprised at the number of whiney comments about that sign I seen on social media. I'm all for the trash talk and such....just as long as it doenst go too far on the court and no one gets hurt. I will never miss a Central vs GC game if I can help it. I've come to expect a total chit-storm everytime.... and so far it hasn't disappointed. It's the only game every year I can count on seeing something completely out of the ordinary.

You have a valid point haha the gym does get pretty crowded.

Let's not generalize the whole fan base simply off of a few forum board warriors who are probably still suckling from their mommas tit. Just as any other fanbase has them, theres several of those unbearable fans that other GC fans wont even associate with. But as a whole, most GC fans carry themselves with class and show respect. (Aside from the Central GC games, which I think happens with every other team that plays them)

Stewart for Lee is a very good ball player. They also have a couple more players that can really shoot the ball....at least they did against GC. They just dont quite have enough fire power or depth.

They very well may be.....but I think it will be close between Central, Union, and Battle. Battle just suffered their first loss of the season to Sullivan South last night. Not sure what South has but it seems like Battle may be a tough out.

Honestly.....Wise was pretty tough even without McAmis. You could tell they had lost their legs by the 2nd half though. Scotty played several of the younger guys and it wore them down. Reed and Mack flew around all over the place on defense. George gave some really good minutes on defense as well.

I dont think so. I remember hearing there was a lady getting thrown out last year for coming out of the stands and hitting a ref with one of those foam padded seats. Theres just no one that does it better than Wise. Simply put

I dont wanna see anyone get hurt at all and hope it never happens during these fiascos. As long as it doesnt......dang if it sure isnt fun to watch haha I've never seen anything like it in any sport at the high school level. Tension was high during the JV boys game. I knew it was going to get really interesting at some point and it didnt take 5 mins into the boys game for it to happen. The girls varsity game was surprisingly docile. The funniest part of the night was at the end. Wise had hung up a sign on their side that said "Merry Christmas to everyone.....but GC". After the GC starters were pulled with 3 mins left of course all of GCs side wished them Merry Christmas in unison for 5 solid minutes. Several of their fans were throwing cussing fits ranting and raving. It was good stuff.

The first scrum I cant remember what player for GC got fouled but he got whacked and was on the floor and the boy from Wise that fouled him was tangled up with him but didnt fall. He hovered over him and either mouthed off or made contact with him again while he was down. It happened on the opposite end of the court from me so it was hard for me to see it all really good. But Ervin went to help out his teammate really quick and got up in some faces along with another player or two. The 2nd scrum that happened on my end is the one that caused the assistant coaches from Wise to hit the court along with several of their players that were on the bench. Had fans walking behind the score table coming towards Scotty that had to be escorted back to their seats. I think Scotty and McAmis got into it at some point during that mess but couldnt tell for everything that was unfolding at once. Then GC team had to be escorted to the locker room at halftime. Honest to goodness....it was like Jerry Springer......but wayyyyyyy better. As long as no one legitimately gets hurt I live for these games. Never know what your gonna see haha

The GC Central game never disappoints...... was no way I was gonna miss this one. How there wasnt Technicals all over the place and players, coaches, and fans kicked out is beyond me. It was GLORIOUS to say the least haha Zac was just 4 pts shy of outscoring Central by himself. He finished with 49 and played ticked off the whole game after that 1st qtr scrum....which didn't bode well for Wise. Never seen that kid mad in all the years I've watched him play I don't think. Other teams should take note....dont set him off. Edit: I think there was 2 Technicals called on both teams in the first mishap. Forgot about that.

GC has Wise Central tomorrow night.

I wish the varsity played D like the JV. It's insane how many turnovers they cause each game. When the game is essentially over.....put your other players in and let them develop. Those young guns put on a clinic every game with their relentless defense. And the varsity girls are looking good. When Fullen and Thompson are both on....look out. They are gonna be hard to stop. And young Housey looked strong out there too. Alot to be excited over for years to come for the boys and girls both.

Rather sloppy play tonight on offense and defense both for GC....especially in the first half. Credit to Lee though for hanging in there and battling. A few of their players could shoot the ball and they were knocking down their 3 pt shots. However, Most of them were wide open due to poor defense. Still, close to a 40 pt win for the Devils with lots to improve on. That's a good thing. GC plays at Wise Central Friday night.

It was another benefit game.

Dean collided knees with another player and sat out the game from the middle of the 3rd qtr. Doesnt seem like anything severe wrong with him. He should be good once he ices it down for a while and gets rested up.

Gate City boys JV lead 25-0 in the 2nd qtr. Devils JV boys lead 40-4 at the half. GCs subs play the whole 3rd qtr and Va High breaks into double digits. 54-11 with 3 mins left in the game. Final score of JV game: GC 58-18

Congrats to Jeremy! Unless I misunderstood, Reed is to be the DC? Someone correct me on that if I'm wrong. Not sure about the rest of the staff. I think GC fans will be more patient in getting things turned around with Jeremy being the Coach. Its gonna take quite a few years IMO to get the program headed in the right direction, but there should be a noticable difference in a year or so. Not necessarily in just wins and losses, but fundamentals and also in the attitudes of the players. The kids will enjoy playing for Housey and he truly cares about the kids. It will be noticeable. There wont be a lack of enthusiasm from him that can be assured. I'm sure the folks at Rye Cove seen the same thing from him while he was there.

Well GC won this one 78-67 after coming out hot in the 1st qtr and scoring almost 40 pts. GC led 37-16 at the end of the 1st. But someone forgot to tell them it's a 4 qtr game. They went cold and Eastside started lighting it up from deep. No rebounding and no defense from GC after the 1st qtr. Eastside cut the lead to 8 at halftime. I think they got as close as 5 in the 2nd half and then GC stretched it back out to a 14 or 15 pt lead once they finally hit a few buckets. This ball game was a tale of 2 totally different GC teams. The potential for GC is there though. But If I was a betting man I'd say they will run suicides til the cows come home.

I say when the final buzzer sounds, the Gmen will be shining like a diamond in a goats ass! Goochland will make a game if it first a quarter or so.....then the flood gates break free.
